Alpha's Little Miracle

Chapter 77

Ch. 77 / 127 Aug 27, 2025

ADRIA’S POV

I couldn’t believe what she had just said. Lucien not returning to see me when I was better didn’t look good.

If they were still on good terms, then wouldn’t he be most happy to see me while I was healthy? Why would he tell my mother he’d stop coming once I was better?

“And what did you tell him, mum?” I asked, frantically with wide eyes, and she sighed deeply.

“I asked him why, and he told me I knew the reason.” She replied and I furrowed my brows.

“You know the reason?” I asked her, and she gave another deep sigh.

“I know Lucien is a wolf.”

“What? How… how did you know that?” I was shocked. How had my mother known what Lucien was? I never let it slip, and I doubted Lucien showed her what he was.

“At first, I didn’t know, but there was a day I had to make a potion that involved wolfsbane, and I ran into him on the road. My bag of wolfsbane fell, and he helped pick it up. He showed reactions to the wolfsbane and handed it to me quickly like he knew what would happen if he happened to sniff it, and I’m a witch, so I’ve come in contact with wolves a few times and I decided to study him, and in the times I studied him, I realized what he was.” She explained, then took my hand in hers.

She continued. “I also thought back to when your dreams started getting worse. I knew it had to be due to exposure to supernatural things. Your sudden awareness of the reality of these things, and it could only mean you knew what he was and because you knew what he was, the fight in you began. But… You were so happy, so happy that… that I couldn’t, I couldn’t bear to snatch your happiness from you, so I thought… Just a little longer, I’ll let you know, just a little more… but, I guess I was wrong.”

Her voice broke as she said those words, and It broke me to see her cry because I also would not have wanted her to take my happiness with Lucien away from me.

“Vampires and Werewolves cannot be together because of the long-term enmity they’ve had towards each other. The only thing they can do is fight, and Lucien’s people would despise Lucien if they knew he had been fraternizing with the enemy. It would be something more of an insult to his people.” She explained further, and I couldn’t help but cry because I had heard, firsthand, the hate in his voice whenever he spoke of vampires.

But, I didn’t want him to hate me. I didn’t want him to think of me as the enemy. I wasn’t like those vampires.

“You have to be careful now, Adria. They will come for you. The sole daughter of their beloved Queen, they will need you but…”

“I don’t want them to need me! I’m not helping them! I just… I just want to be with Lucien.” I cried out, and she squeezed my hand tight.

“You. Only you, can choose what you want. Good or bad.” She told me, and I closed my eyes.

“I’ll… I’ll rest a little.” I replied, and she picked up her tray of potions.

“I guess you’ll have this later then. Adria, don’t think too much.” She told me, but I doubted I could do that.

I had learned too much in a single hour, and I didn’t even have the opportunity to process it all.

I suddenly had to learn my mother was a witch with powers like the ones in the movies, and that she wasn’t my mother.

The woman I had known and loved for years wasn’t the one who had brought me to the world and that I was a vampire.

A vampire with real fangs and claws and the desire for blood. The craving for blood, preferably human blood.

And also that my mother was not just a normal vampire but the Queen and that they would come for me because I was her daughter.

It seemed like I was suddenly thrown into a fairy tale. A scary novel. It didn’t even help that I had to be the being that was enemies with the wolves when the love of my life happened to be a wolf.

It was all very disheartening for me.

I laid in bed for a long time before picking up my phone and deciding to text Lucien.

*Lucien. Won’t you come and see me? I’m awake and I want to see you. I missed you, and we need to discuss our relationship and the direction in which we’ll go, or do you want me to visit you?*

It took me minutes to get that text arranged because I had been erasing and writing it all over since the previous ones didn’t seem nice.

Then, a knock came on my door, followed by Stacy coming in.

“Adria.” She called immediately, walking briskly to take the spot on the stool my mum had occupied minutes ago. “You look so bad.” She remarked, wiping away my tears. “Your mum told us you were awake minutes ago. We were already on our way to you, though.” She said, and I dropped my phone to hug her.

“The boys left to get something for you. They need to be here right now.” She said, patting me, and I released her.

“They should have come with you. Who says I needed anything?” I asked, and Stacy grinned, took my phone and got up.

“I’ll check if they’re in sight, and if they’re not, I’ll call them. I left my phone with Tommy. The idiot snatched it from me, thinking it was going to make me buy him a burger.” She said, giggling and turned around, leaving.

I smiled as she left. It was typical of Tommy.

My smile was still on my face when Stacy returned, but it went down immediately because she looked shocked.

“What’s this message?” She asked. “Are you… are you seeing Professor Lucien?”
