The tension in the room was palpable as Jade sat on the couch, her hands clutching a warm mug of tea that Thiago had handed her. The men, however, were anything but calm. Enzo stood by the window, his phone in hand, furiously typing out instructions to his team. Milan paced back and forth across the room, his sharp blue eyes filled with icy determination. Thiago leaned against the doorframe, scrolling through his phone, his jaw set in a hard line.
“This isn’t just a threat,” Milan said finally, breaking the silence. “This is personal. And I don’t like being kept in the dark.”
“It’s Vivienne,” Enzo said flatly, still typing on his phone. “She’s behind this. I don’t need proof to know it.”
Jade sat quietly, her heart racing as she listened to the conversation. The message had left her shaken, and while the men were trying to stay composed, their anger was simmering just beneath the surface.
Enzo finally hit send on his message and turned toward the others. “I’ve told my men to find out where Vivienne and her team are hiding,” he said. “They’ll search every corner of the city if they have to.”
“Good,” Milan replied, his voice low. “We need answers, and we need them fast.”
Thiago crossed his arms, his dark eyes narrowing as he spoke. “I’ve already contacted my colleagues. They’re running a trace on the number. If this person left even the smallest digital footprint, we’ll find them.”
“Do you think it’s just her, or does she have someone working with her?” Jade asked hesitantly, her voice barely above a whisper.
Enzo’s expression softened slightly as he looked at her. “Vivienne rarely works alone,” he admitted. “She likes to have people do her dirty work while she pulls the strings from the shadows. But we’ll figure it out.”
Jade nodded, her fingers tightening around the mug. “I just don’t understand why she hates me so much. I’ve tried to stay out of her way.”
“It’s not about you,” Milan said, stopping his pacing to look at her. “It’s about control. She’s trying to get to us, and she knows you’re the easiest way to do that.”
