Ellena called Samantha immediately after leaving the Emperor Group to share the good news with her.
Upon hearing the news, Samantha was stunned. "Are you serious?" she asked.
Excitedly, Ellena replied, "Of course! He gave me the documents! Are you at the company right now? I'll bring them to you."
"Yes! I'm at the company," Samantha responded.
After hanging up the phone, Ellena drove to the Sky Group.
When Samantha saw the documents handed over by Ellena, her heart couldn't stop trembling with excitement. "It's really happening," she exclaimed, hugging Ellena tightly and kissing her face repeatedly. "Ellena, thank you so much! I'm really grateful to you!"
She hadn't expected Ellena to surprise her with such a big opportunity. She thought it would take some time and effort to secure cooperation with the Emperor Group. But it happened much sooner than she anticipated. Although the outcome was still uncertain, at least she had taken an important step forward.
Ellena didn't mind being covered in saliva from Samantha's kisses. "Don't celebrate too soon. I found out that the Miller Group is also participating in this project. And if my guess is correct, Suzy might be their lead designer this time. You have to defeat her and win the project," she warned.
Samantha patted her chest confidently. "Don't worry, Suzy is no match for me. I'll definitely win the project."
Then, as if remembering something, she looked at Ellena suspiciously and teased, "She's your future sister-in-law, and you've always gotten along well. How come you're on my side now? You're not plotting anything, are you?"
Ellena glared at her, pretending to be hurt. "You heartless person! I've been helping you so much, and you still suspect me."
In fact, after the incident last time, she saw Suzy's true colors. She didn't like dealing with cunning people, so she deliberately distanced herself from Suzy. On the other hand, after spending time with Samantha a few times, she found their personalities very similar and felt they got along well. Unconsciously, she wanted to help her.
Samantha burst into laughter at Ellena's reaction.
"I was just kidding, don't be mad! To show my gratitude, I'll treat you to lunch." Samantha quickly apologized to Ellena.
Ellena readily agreed, and after having lunch together, Samantha began to carefully study the project of the Emperor Group.
After work, because Charlotte and Alexander didn't attend the same kindergarten, Samantha had to leave early to pick up Charlotte and then pick up Alexander and Noah.
Before leaving, Charlotte grabbed Elliot's hand and worriedly said, "If your dad doesn't come back tonight, call me, and I'll have Mommy come pick you up and take you to our house."
Elliot nodded vigorously without being polite.
Samantha held Charlotte's hand and arrived at the entrance of Alexander's kindergarten.
To their surprise, they met Suzy at the entrance of the kindergarten.
Suzy showed no surprise when she saw Samantha. "Samantha, do you remember what you promised me? You promised me to keep your distance from them! It's only been two days, are you going back on your word?" she questioned.
Samantha frowned unhappily. "You've misunderstood. I saw them in a pitiful state, and I couldn't bear it, so I..."
Before she could finish her sentence, Suzy interrupted her. "Being soft-hearted now will only lead to further delays and complications! Children are not like adults. If they don't see each other for a long time, their feelings will fade. If you really care about them, I hope you keep your promise and stay away from them. Otherwise, they will only find it harder to forget you, and they will suffer even more."
With that said, Samantha felt a bit shameless staying any longer.
She smiled and said, "I'll take the children and leave now. When Alexander and Noah come out, please tell them to listen to Ethan and not to run around randomly, as it's dangerous outside."
Suzy neither agreed nor refused, just crossed her arms and stared contemptuously at her.
Samantha didn't want to continue arguing with her, so she left holding Charlotte's hand.
Not long after they left, the gate of the kindergarten opened.
Alexander and Noah broke free from their teacher's grasp and ran out eagerly, expecting to see Samantha and Charlotte, but they only saw Suzy.
Their smiles froze when they saw Suzy.
Alexander asked coldly, "Why are you here? Where's my mommy?"
Suzy, despite wanting to strangle him in her heart, maintained her smile on her face. "Aren't I your mommy? Your dear mommy."
The implication was that Samantha was fake.
Alexander's face remained expressionless as he questioned, "I'm asking you, where's my mommy? Where did she go? Why are you here? Did you drive her away?"
Suzy's smile didn't waver, and she replied calmly, "What are you saying? How could I drive her away? Just an hour ago, I received a call from her, asking me to come pick you up. She said you've been bothering her, causing her trouble, and she finds you annoying. She hopes I can take you back and tell you not to disturb her peaceful life anymore, to stay away from her. She's not your mother, and she's not obligated to deal with you."
Her words instantly drained the color from Alexander and Noah's faces.
These words undoubtedly touched upon a sore spot for Noah.
Samantha had raised Alexander, whereas he had no real connection to Samantha. And, he was actually the biological son of Samantha’s enemy, Suzy. Samantha might find him troublesome, and while he couldn't accept it, he could understand.
"I don't believe you! I want to ask mommy myself..." Alexander didn't believe her and dialed Samantha's number on her phone.
Suzy didn't stop him and watched quietly as he called Samantha.
Samantha was driving and saw Alexander's call, intending to answer it, but then remembered Suzy's words. With a heavy heart, she pulled back her hand, let her phone ring incessantly.
As she watched the screen flashing Alexander's name, Samantha felt her heart bleeding.
Tears blurred her vision.
They were Suzy's biological children.
She and Suzy were sworn enemies.
Although they didn't like Suzy, they were still her biological children. When the day came for Samantha to seek her revenge, they would stand by Suzy's side, becoming her adversaries.
It was better to keep their distance now than to wait until that day, to spare themselves from greater pain.
As the ringing continued, Alexander's heart grew colder and colder.
Seeing Samantha not answering, he called again, unwilling to give up.
But the result was the same as before.
The call went through, but there was no answer.
Tears fell uncontrollably.
Alexander couldn't hold back anymore and hugged Noah, crying loudly.
"Mommy doesn't want me anymore, she really doesn't want me anymore... Noah, I want mommy, I like mommy, why doesn't mommy want me? Why?"
He couldn't understand.
Mommy obviously liked him so much.
She hadn't treated him differently because he wasn't her biological son.
So why could she suddenly say she didn't want him?
Noah's heart ached too.
He didn't know how to comfort Alexander, so he could only pat his back gently.
Seeing all this, Suzy's lips curled up in a smile, a hint of triumphant conspiracy flashing in her eyes.
From now on, these two little bastards shouldn't be thinking about Samantha anymore, right?
They should wholeheartedly stand on her side, shouldn't they?
Heh...
Once she successfully married Ethan and had her own children, she would find a way to get rid of them, eliminating any future threats.
