"That's it," Tai snapped and took a step forward but Kal jumped in front.
"Please don't hit her. She's annoying but I happen to be stuck with her and I really don't want her to get hurt," Kal said.
"She should've watched what she said then," Tai glared and moved forward but Kal copied her every step.
"It's a work in progress," Kal shrugged. "Once you get to know her it's not all bitchyness... Right, Kim?"
Kimberly only raised her eyebrows and crossed her arms over her chest.
"That's a yes," Kal said.
"Whatever. As soon as I hear Indianna is okay I'm outta here," Tai sighed and looked to the door.
She hoped Indianna would be okay.
*
Indianna walked out into the hallway and Kimberly jumped up, rushing to her side.
"Are you okay? Is the baby okay?" Kimberly demanded.
Indianna gulped. "We... We're okay," she whispered and placed her hand on her stomach. "We're good."
"Oh thank god," Kimberly said. "Right, I need a cup of tea or something to help me calm down after stressing about you. Let's go."
"No, I've got to get back-"
"You and your baby may be fine, but I will not have you running around looking for Ellie," Doc said as he walked out. "Sit, rest, have some food and relax. You're stressed and your blood pressure is rising, it's not good for the baby."
Indianna sighed and ran her fingers through her hair. She desperately wanted to argue, but she couldn't.
"Okay," she mumbled. "I'm going to go up to my room."
"I'll go with you-"
"No, Kim, I er... I want to talk with Tai," Indianna said. "Alone."
Kimberly turned to look at Tai with narrowed eyes. "I'll get Laura to make you some food, I'll bring it up when it's ready," she said sharply.
"Thank you," Indianna smiled.
"Can you get Laura to make me some food as well?" Kal asked hopefully, but Kimberly was already walking away.
"Is that okay?" Indianna asked Tai. "To talk?"
Tai scrunched her eyebrows. "Er... Sure," she said uneasily. "Whatever."
Indianna nodded and gently started walking through the house. She passed Greyson's room on the way to hers and paused.
"Ind-"
"This way," Indianna said and quickly walked on, opening her door and stepping inside. She didn't spend much time in her room anymore. She slept in Greyson's.
Indianna wrote her letters in her room. She glanced to the shelf where they were kept and sighed.
"So, what?" Tai said as Indianna eased onto her bed. "What do you want to talk about?"
"Thank you," Indianna said softly as she grabbed a pillow and hugged it to her chest. "For taking me home."
"It's no biggie," Tai shrugged. "What I want to know is what the hell was going on? Why were you fighting those guys? You're pregnant and that Ace guy looked like he was going to keel over!"
"Ace is in recovery, he shouldn't have even been with me," Indianna sighed.
"You're pregnant, you shouldn't be fighting," Tai said.
"We didn't have a choice," Indianna explained. "We needed to find out where somebody was."
"Ellie," Tai guessed. "Did she run away?"
"I wish," Indianna whispered. "She's been taken."
"Kidnapped?" Tai gasped. "Call the police!"
"We can't," Indianna said. "I wish we could, but it won't help anything."
"I thought this town was meant to be safe," Tai said. "Some weird shit is going on and its definitely not safe. Gangs, kidnapping, murder-"
"Murder?" Indianna said quietly and Tai paused.
"Shit," she swore. "I-"
"It's fine," Indianna said painfully. "It's not like it was a secret."
"I'm sorry," Tai said awkwardly.
"It's not your fault. Greyson, he... There was only one person responsible. The same person who has taken Ellie."
"You know who killed him! Girl, are you stupid or do you not like snitching on criminals! Go to the police." Tai didn't know why she was bothering getting so involved. She didn't know these people.
She didn't get close to people.
"I've already said going to police won't help," Indianna sighed. "This person is stronger than the police."
"That's shit," Tai said and frowned. "Indianna, what do you know about wolves in this town?"
Indianna smirked ever so slightly. "That's the other reason why I wanted to talk to you."
Tai raised her eyebrows. "What?"
"You must've noticed this house smells different to everywhere in town," Indianna said.
"I don't go around sniffing places," Tai said and raised her eyebrows.
"Yes you do. There's a specific scent at this house, I'm sure you've smelt it at the school as well," Indianna said.
"What are you talking about?"
"You and your brother, you're different," Indianna said slowly and she watched as Tai narrowed her eyes.
"I don't know what the hell you're talking about," Tai said defensively.
"Yes you do," Indianna nodded. "It isn't a bad thing."
"Look, I'm glad you're okay, but I've got to go-"
"Tai," Indianna called and Tai glanced at Indianna, gasping when something about Indianna changed.
Her eyes glowed.
"What the fuck," Tai gasped.
"Everything can be put in the open. We both have secrets," Indianna said and she raised her eyebrow. "The same secrets."
"You..." Tai faltered. "You're a..." she paused. She didn't know what she was.
"I'm the same as you. And your brother."
"I don't know what we are," Tai said honestly. "We're freaks, monsters, unnatural-"
"That's where you're wrong," Indianna said. "Tai, sit down, I think I've got a lot to explain."
"I'm just dandy standing right here," Tai said, her eyes flickering to the door.
"We're not monsters, we're werewolves. We're completely normal," Indianna said softly.
"That's impossible. Werewolves are fiction."
"Then what is it that you shift into? A cat? You turn into a wolf, Tai."
"But... how?"
Indianna frowned. "Do you know anything about yourself?" Indianna wondered.
"All I know is that something weird happened when I turned 18 and I turned into a freaking wolf. The same thing happened when Rai was 16. There was no explanation leaflet," Tai snapped. "Now if you know what's going on then tell me."
"I think it might be easier if you read this," Indianna said and reached onto her side and grabbed a big leather book. "It definitely helped me."
*
"Ace!" Harry called as he rushed over to Ace who was still at Rogue's house. "What the hell happened?"
"Where's Indie?" Brooke asked.
"Why the hell is he here?" Harry asked, pointing at Raiden.
"Indie and I were attacked. She landed on her stomach. Raiden helped."
"No!" Brooke gasped.
"Tai took her to the house. Doc looked her over, she's fine," Ace assured them. "Did you guys find anything out?"
Harry narrowed his eyes. "We found something out alright."
"What?"
"Why is that kid still standing here?" Harry asked rudely.
"He and Tai helped Indie and I out," Ace explained. "Be nice."
"Wonderful, you can go now," Harry shrugged.
"Harry!" Brooke snapped and looked at Raiden. "Sorry, we just need to tell Ace something private."
"No problem," Raiden said and smiled as he walked off. "I hope you guys sort out whatever you've got going on."
"Brandon," Brooke blurted as soon as Raiden was gone. "Brandon's a werewolf. The wolf that was watching us earlier was Brandon!"
"There was a wolf here," Ace said slowly. "It... helped us." Ace described the wolf and Brooke frowned.
"That's Brandon."
"Did you get a scent?" Harry demanded.
"No, he's good at masking it," Ace sighed.
"Right, I've mindlinked Kal. Ace, you take Brooklyn home, Kal is with Oscar and we'll try and pick up the scent," Harry ordered.
"No-"
"Babe, I'm not risking your safety. Don't argue with me. You're going home, now. And Ace, you already know I'm not happy with you being up on your feet and considering you were just attacked, you need rest. Both of you are going home."
"Wow, he cares," Kal's voice called cheerily as him and Oscar, a pack member, joined the trio.
"Shut up," Harry snapped.
"Any luck?" Brooke asked.
Kal frowned. "No. Why d'you need us?"
"We need to catch a scent and follow it to Ellie or Rogue," Harry said.
"How do you know that Brandon would go to where Ellie is. Did he say he knew where she was?" Ace asked.
"He knows," Harry said. "He's so far up Rogue's ass it makes me sick. I'm positive he's gone to wherever Rogue is, and I bet that's were Ellie is."
"Why do we all need to track Brandon's scent? We know it," Kal said.
"Not anymore we don't," Harry muttered. "His scent is different now, and he's masked it."
"How?"
"He's a werewolf," Brooke explained.
Kal raised an eyebrow. "Well that's fucking unexpected."
