Her Rejection, His regret

The photo

Isla’s POV

“This is Isla. Isla this is Esmeralda.” Harry jumped in front of us to do the introduction. I watched as Miller was dragged away shouting some rubbish that made no sense.

Why did they have to bring him here anyway? He was a waste of my time and energy.

“Call me Esme.” She grinned and held out her hand to me to shake. I was so confused and had no idea what to say or do.

She looked like me and I wondered why nobody was questioning this.

Did she not notice either?

“Umm. hello.” I finally managed to say.

Max stood beside me and slid his arm around my waist.

“So, your sister and your friend and baby are safe inside.” Esme said breaking the awkward silence and I hit my lip nervously. My sister. I needed to see her. Was she ok?

“Can I see them, please?” I looked passed her to the house, and she nodded eagerly.

“Of course. Follow me.”

“Yes, Let’s go inside Isla. It’s getting chilly out here anyway.”

Something weird was going on with him but I could not think about that right now because all I wanted was to see my sister and make sure that she was okay.

I really hoped that she had started to remember something by now. Maybe seeing me again would somehow jog her memory, I had my fingers crossed and silently prayed to the moon goddess.

“Just in here.”

She opened the door to reveal a huge, beautiful room which was painted a creamy magnolia colour. The windows were huge and half open letting the fresh air in causing the curtains to blow slightly.

There was a big four poster bed in the middle of the room and a long red sofa against the wall.

Cora was sitting up on the bed with her feet perched over the edge. Eric was beside her and they were holding hands. Cora looked like she could not take her eyes off him.

“I love you.” She kept saying to him and he was grinning at her. It was like they were alone and unaware that they now had visitors.

“Come on Eric, let’s give the girls some alone time.” Esme laughed causing Eric to look up. A flash of annoyance flickered over his face, but he did as he was told. I was suprised when he stood up, bowed and kissed Esmes cheek. She must be especially important for this kind of treatment.

“Yes of course.” I heard him say.

“I will give you some time with Cora. I have a few things to attend to.” Max turned to me, he kissed my cheek and smiled.

“Let’s give them some time.” Eric agreed.

Esme nodded and together they and Max left us alone.

I waited until the door was closed behind them before I went towards Cora. She was glaring at me like she hated to be near me let alone on her own with me.

“Cora?” I whispered, reaching for her hand, and gasping when she pulled it away. Growling at me she screwed up her face and backed away from me.

“Cora, please?” I could feel the tears welling up in my eyes.

“Please just go away.” Cora mumbled and her face from me.

“No, Cora please listen to me.” I started to say but she growled and pushed me away causing me to almost topple backwards.

“Fine. I will leave you be.” I was so angry that she was treating me that way. We were sisters. How could she not remember me?

I decided to go and find Max, I figured that Cora would be ok after a little while.

I investigated the hallway and saw there was nobody there, not a soul.

It was quiet.

Then someone came rushing down the hall and my eyes grew wide when I saw who it was.

Mora.

She looked worried and upset.

The baby was playing up or something.

“Oh, Isla. I’m so glad to see you. I’ve been looking all over this place for you. Max is crazy. He is going to kill Miller. I overheard him talking to Ed about in the hallway. They are up to something and it’s not good. We must get out of here.” Mora sounded like she was losing the plot. I frowned and then laughed.

“Nice joke.” I rolled my eyes and picked up the baby from her arms.

“No, Isla. I’m dead serious. I know you have no reason to believe me, but this might change your mind.”

She pulled out a photo of Max and some other female, they were smiling at each other and looked so in love. He used that same look on me and suddenly I felt like time had stopped.

“Where did you get this?” I turned to face her.

“It was down there in one of the rooms, there are loads of these. Eric told us not to leave the room we were in, but I needed some more blankets for the baby, and nobody was around so I decided to look for some. I found these and then had to come and find you. But Max was out there with Ed.” She explained and I had a horrible feeling that she was not making this up.

My heart missed a beat or two and I felt like my whole body had been cut into pieces.

What was this about?

Who the hell was she and why was Max holding her like that?

Mora was right.

Max was up to something, and I could not let him fool me like that.

He was going to wish that he never messed with me.

“Where are they?” I wanted to know.

“Down there.” Mora pointed down the hall but tried to hold me back as she realised that I was headed that way.

“Go and get Cora. We are leaving this place.” I informed her and she nodded before going to the room where Cora was.

There was no way that I was going to standby and allow Max to take me for a stupid fool. Who did he think he was? Was everything he had ever said and done for me, all just one big fat lie?

I had so many questions going through my head that I felt as though it might explode. My poor wolf whimpered in the back of my mind as I pushed Mora out of my way and growled.

I knew that he wasn’t far away from where I was standing since I could smell his strong, delicious scent.

Damn him.

Why did he have to look so good, smell so good and be so enticing?

Shaking my head, I forced myself to get a grip. This stupid wolf was taking me for an idiot. Big mistake that would be.

My hand instantly flew to my mouth, as I slowly peered around the wall. There he was standing with his back to me. He had someone pinned up against the wall. Upon further investigation, I noticed that it was another she Wolf. They were kissing passionately. My heart sunk and I felt sick.

I meant nothing to him; he was using me. How could he do that to me? He knew what Miller had put me through, yet he was acting no better.

I wanted to rush over and punch the pair of them in the face, but something strong and heavy suddenly pulled me back wards and then I felt a hand cover my mouth.

Miller!
