Megan’s POV
My eyes continued to leak clear liquid. My chest felt tight and my mind kept replaying the events of the past and showing all the evil deeds I had done to those closest to me, including Piper, Uncle Martin, and Doctor Kevin.
What kind of woman am I? I thought I deserved the nickname of a heartless demoness. Do I still have a future? Do I deserve to live after all the terrible things I’ve done? Even God might turn His face away because I’m a sinner. What was I supposed to do?
Suddenly, I heard the door opening, and I looked back. That man walked in and looked at me in surprise. “What’s wrong? Why are you crying? Did you finish your breakfast?”
I just nodded. My voice seemed to disappear somewhere. I had to make a choice, but I was confused and didn’t know what to do.
“Oh, apparently you’re hungry. Do you still want to eat? If so, I’ll make something for you. And I’ve also bought quite a lot of snacks for you,” he said as he picked up the tray and cleared the dining table.
Then, as he walked towards the door, I spontaneously held back his hand, making him quite surprised. “What’s wrong? You’re being quiet and not answering my questions. If you just stay quiet, I don’t know what you want and what I should do. Say something.”
“Thank you for the food,” I answered as I stared at the floor.
“Get ready to wait at the bar. This room is going to be renovated this afternoon. I put your bag by the bed,” he said. Then he walked out and closed the door.
Long story short, I took a shower and got dressed, then I left the room and walked to the bar. I spent the whole day just sitting inside the bar looking out at the streets and the passing of men who stopped by the warehouse just to satisfy their lust and I saw some men wearing the same uniform walking towards the man’s house. I saw the old furniture being taken out and the men putting the new furniture into the room.
Suddenly, a female servant came over. “Can I sit here?”
I turned my head and looked at her. “Oh, please.”
She sat in front of me as she smiled. “You’re lucky.”
Huh? Lucky? What did that mean?
“What do you mean?” I asked in surprise.
“Dean defended you in front of Madam Elena. He begged so you not to have to work as a prostitute. Then, he asked a friend of his who works for a furniture company to make over his room and replace all the furniture with new ones. He wants to make you comfortable,” she replied as she sipped from the glass of coffee she had brought.
“I think he wants to make me his sex slave and not out of pity. Last night alone, he fucked me several times until I passed out. I think you misunderstand and think he’s a nice guy. Oh, wait. Is his name Dean?” I asked.
“Yes. The man with the knife cut on the right side of his face is Dean. He is Madam Elena’s confidant and we all respect him a lot. As for your answer, I think you misunderstood. If Dean hadn’t begged Madam for the sake of your pregnancy, you would have been forced to serve many men every day. And the men who come to this place are usually violent, and most of them are BDSM enthusiasts. Do you understand now?” she asked, both eyebrows raised.
Maybe she was right. The proof was I didn’t have to work as a prostitute. I sat inside this bar while enjoying a cup of drink, music, and some snacks. Dean wasn’t as bad as I thought.
“You’re right. I had misjudged him. Thank you,” I replied.
He smiled. “What’s your name?”
“Megan Smith. What’s your name?”
“Joanna,” she replied.
“Nice to meet you, Joanna. You’re very sweet and kind.”
“You too. I have to get back to work. Let’s talk some other time,” she said as she stood up. I went back alone.
I sat and stayed at the bar until evening. As the night wore on, the bar became more crowded, and I became curious about the situation in the room. Maybe it was time for me to leave this bar.
I hurriedly walked to Dean’s room. Arriving at the entrance, the room’s new appearance surprised me. My eyes widened and my lips kept uttering words of praise.
“Wow. Is this real?” I said.
“Yes, it is real,” a man replied. I turned around and saw Dean standing behind me. His hands were carrying two enormous bags. One of them looked like food and I could tell because I could smell it. However, I didn’t know what he was carrying.
“Come on in. Their work is done, and it looks like it’s snowing. Hurry and get in before we get sick,” he invited.
He bought a lot of groceries. That night, we ate together at the dining table and consumed so much food that my stomach was full and my clothes felt tight.
It seemed like everything Joanna said was true. Dean wasn’t bad.
After eating dinner, I sat beside the window while covering my body with a thick blanket. Meanwhile, Dean sat watching television while making tea, then he gave me a glass of warm tea. It felt great to enjoy the snowfall while drinking tea. However, my heart still wasn’t at ease. Maybe I should ask Dean’s opinion and see his reaction.
The following days, we were like a loveless but caring couple, and we shared the pleasure of sex almost every night. I took it as a reward for all the good he had done for me. I always tried to keep him satisfied when we made love and afterward, we would lie together until morning.
Life is hilarious, isn’t it? Two loveless people living together because of circumstances and having sex like a couple in love. I let her enjoy the beauty of sex without coercion until it was time for me to reveal my past and I had to leave his life to make up for the guilt still lodged in my heart.
