Mated To The Devil's Son

Book 2: Chapter 35

Ch. 108 / 125 Feb 08, 2026

"She'll be fine, your highness. Fortunately, the bullet only brushed through her skin and didn't cause any damage." The doctor informed me as he walked out of the operating room, his hands folded beneath his stomach and his head bowed.

A huge burden lifted off my chest the moment he said those words, and I sighed in relief. I'm glad nothing happened to her. I'm not sure what I would have done if the news had been bad. I don't want to bring myself to think of the worst; all that matters now is the fact that she's now fine.

"What about the little one?" I asked, swallowing my saliva as I nervously fumbled my hands.

For some reason, the thought of the little one seems so unreal after everything that has happened. I wasn't expecting to hear anything about the little one, but the moment the doctor examined her, he confirmed that she was indeed pregnant, although the child might not make it if the treatment doesn't go well.

On hearing the news, my heart dropped and sadness enveloped me.

Fear surrounded me; I was scared. It would be hard for the little one to make it through all of the hardships Lenora had to go through. My mind was clouded with various thoughts, the majority of which were negative. What if something happens to the little one? How do I break the news to Lenora after all that she has been through?

Our little one has been hanging in there for a very long time, suffering and struggling to survive; I definitely need positive feedback from the doctor.

My breath quickened as I waited for the doctor to answer my question: why in the hell is he taking so long to answer me?

"It's surprising and definitely a miracle; the baby is hale and hearty."

"There is no sign of any threat to it or to the mother," he finally responded.

"Fuck!" I heaved a sigh of relief, a loud heave of joy leaving my lips as I lifted my eyes to the ceiling in an attempt to prevent the tears in my eyes from rolling down my cheeks. I can't be seen like this; I need to be stronger for both Lenora and my little one.

It feels like a dream to even have the thought of them in my head. I can't believe I'm finally back together with my Lenora, and the little one is also alive.

The sadness and fear that I felt suddenly vanished and were quickly replaced with an abundance of joy. I need to have her in my arms right now. I need to reassure her that all of her struggles are over and there's no need for her to keep fighting anymore. I need to let her know how lucky I am to have her in my life, and I need to make her understand that all she has to do henceforth is rest. She doesn't need to be burdened anymore; I'll be the one to take all of her pains and burdens on myself.

"Can I see her now?" I asked, making my way past the doctor, only to be stopped by his trembling arm raised to block my entrance into the room.

"I'm sorry, your highness, but you can't go in now; the nurses are sewing up the cut, and she also needs to rest." He stuttered, his eyelids fluttered, and his gaze remained on his black, polished shoes.

"What do you mean I can't see her now? Haven't I been patient enough?" I roared, my voice echoing through the white walls and causing both the doctor and the queen to tremble in fear.

Despite him trembling, his arm still obstructed me.

"Do you have a death wish?" I growled.

"Forgive me, your highness, but I'm doing this for her." "She needs rest, not visitors right now," he added, his voice shaking with each word he spoke.

Since the moment I rushed her into this hospital, I have been restricted from seeing her, and hell, I don't think I'm strong enough to wait any longer. My body and my wolf haven't been at peace.

I understand that she needs to rest, and the doctor says she's doing well, but I don't think my body will be at ease until I see her face and confirm for myself that she's doing well.

"Please, your highness," the doctor said, begging as his arms still trembled before me.

"When will she be awake?" I asked, taking a step back.

"Very soon, your highness."

"How soon?"

"An hour or two," he replied. After hearing his words, I was able to calm myself.

I only need to wait for an hour or two; it isn't that much compared to the number of weeks I've waited to meet her.

"Okay, carry on," I replied, stepping even further away from the room. The more I inhale her scent stained with blood, the more it's hard for me to prevent myself from barging into that room and hugging her tight into my arms. I wish I was able to heal her with my healing abilities, but I can't afford to risk it; she needs urgent medical care from a professional.

"Thank you, your highness." The doctor sighed, with his palm running over his face while he wiped off the beads of sweat that had piled up on his forehead.

"Queen Eva," I said, calling for the queen's attention as I walked past her, signalling for her to follow me from behind. She obeyed, and in no time I could hear the taps of her old shoes walking behind me.

"Your highness, is something wrong?" She asked from behind. I didn't reply to her; rather, I kept on walking until I was outside the hospital doors.

I signalled for the driver to get the car started as I entered the back seat, while she sat on the front seat beside the driver. I could hear her heart thumping, and the smell of fear around her became evident as the driver drove to the castle.

It was only a twenty-minute drive, and in no time, we arrived in front of the castle doors and stood on the purple grass, which was the main reason why I requested a ride to the castle.

This would have been Lenora's favourite scenery, so I'm willing to perform an act of forgiveness on this grass despite my beast holding back the urge to give her the punishment she deserves for holding back the prince's mate from being with the prince.

"Your highness," she said; her voice was low as it trembled, and her eyes remained on her brown shoes. She could sense my aura and knew why I had called her to this place.

"Eva"

"Yes, my lord," she answered.

"Why did you keep her away from me?" I asked.

Without hesitating, she fell flat on the ground with her chest touching the wet grass and her face directed at the ground.

"Please forgive me," she pleaded. Her cries became louder as she lifted both her arms above her head as a sign of plea.

"You knew she was my mate, yet you sent her off to a foreign land rather than bringing her back to me," I said. I could feel my anger building up, but I managed to control it. There's no use of being angry at a time like this when Lenora could be awake any time soon.

"Forgive me, my lord. Anger clouded my sense of reasoning, and I wanted to avenge the deaths of my husband and daughter."

"I know I have wronged you so much and don't deserve your help, but please forgive me," she cried.

"If you wish to take back your word and armies, then I deserve it, but please spare my life; I am all that Edessa has," she added, her voice breaking between her words as she cried.

I have a lot of enemies; I shouldn't have expected more or less from her or anyone else.

"Today, I will forgive you and keep my word and armies, but that is only because I have found my mate," I replied, walking past her and back into the car, instructing the driver to start the ride immediately without waiting for the queen. I don't need her to be in the hospital once Lenora wakes up; Lenora wouldn't want to see her face. Once Lenora is awake, we'll leave for Serene pack. She'll finally be home.

"Your highness," the doctor called, running up to me the moment I alighted the car with his coat swinging on both sides and a huge smile plastered on his face.

"What is it?" I asked, my brows creasing in confusion.

"She's awake," he replied, flashing his teeth.

Without waiting to comprehend what he had just said, I took to my heels and headed for the operating room.

"Your highness, her room has been changed to number 53." The doctor yelled from behind me as I changed my track in search of room number 53. At last, the war is indeed over.
