The Barren Ex-Wife Gave Birth to Twins

Chapter 94

Ch. 94 / 100 May 04, 2026

The first rays of sunlight crept through the heavy hotel curtains, casting a faint glow over the room. Ryan stirred, his head pounding from the night’s excesses. He groaned, reaching for his phone instinctively.

No new messages.

No new calls.

His thumb hovered over the screen, refreshing his inbox. Still nothing.

A hollow ache settled in his chest. He had poured his heart out to Amelia, asking her to give him one final chance. Her silence spoke volumes.

“She’s made her decision,” he muttered bitterly, running a hand through his disheveled hair.

Pushing himself off the bed, Ryan stumbled toward the bathroom, splashing cold water on his face to clear his head. As he stared at his reflection in the mirror, the man looking back at him seemed a stranger—tired, regretful, and utterly defeated.

By the time he returned to the main room, Brenda was there, smiling brightly as she arranged a tray of breakfast items.

“You’re awake!” she chirped, her voice overly cheerful. “I thought you’d need something to help recover from last night.”

Ryan forced a smile, though it didn’t reach his eyes. “Thanks,” he mumbled, sinking into a chair.

Brenda perched on the edge of the bed, watching him closely. “I know this has been a whirlwind,” she said softly. “But I just want you to know… I’m here for you, Ryan. No matter what.”

Her words grated against his raw emotions, but he nodded anyway. “I appreciate that.”

Brenda reached for his hand, her grip firm. “We’re so close to having everything we ever wanted. Caleb deserves this—deserves us to be a real family.”

Her voice was steady, but Ryan detected the faint edge of desperation beneath it. He looked at her, at the woman he had once thought could be his future, and wondered when the cracks had begun to show.

“Yeah,” he said finally, his voice hollow. “You’re right. Caleb deserves this.”

But even as he spoke, an image of Amelia flashed in his mind—the way she had smiled at him in moments of shared joy, the fire in her eyes when she challenged him. The life they had once dreamed of building together felt so far away now, like a story from someone else’s life.

Brenda’s voice broke through his thoughts. “Everything will be perfect, Ryan. You’ll see. Once we’re married, everything will fall into place.”

He nodded absently, reaching for his phone again. But this time, he didn’t refresh his messages. He couldn’t bear the emptiness.

Instead, he locked the phone and placed it face down on the table, silently resigning himself to the path ahead.
