After everything I've been through, I can imagine the amount of hurt my mom must have dealt with knowing my father never loved her and especially when she was carrying me.
I lay sadly under a tree in the hopes when I returned he would be gone by then. Knowing the person he is I didn't want to see his face again, ever. I began to wish he was truly dead and my mom was the one living.
Why do the bad ones live longer and the good ones die so fast? I couldn't help thinking with a heavy heart.
My head raised quickly from the ground hearing a sound behind me. I looked around and I felt a great instinct as if I'm being watched. I've been long enough in the hood, Madison must be concerned about my whereabouts and so I ran back to her house. I went where I had hidden my clothes and shifted redressing myself.
As I went inside an uneasy feeling swept over me knowing my father may be inside still speaking to Madison. I loathed making another contact with him.
My hand trembled nervously as I reached for the doorknob opening it.
"Rain is that you," I heard Madison still in the living room where I have left her and my selfish father.
I didn't want to answer. I didn't want to be recognized with him being around.
"Yes, it's me," I slowly answer her as I shut the door behind me.
I motioned straight upstairs to lock myself in my room, to avoid seeing my father but as I did I paused at the first step going up hearing Madison crying.
I spun around and steadily walked to the living room. Madison lay on the couch crying her eyes out. She was alone.
"Madison," I called her as I walked to her.
"Rain, please just give me some time alone," she requested.
I didn't want to instead I sat opposite her and looked at her sadly as she weep.
I wanted to say something to her, to make her feel better but I couldn't find any words. My mind felt blank.
"Where is he?" instead I asked in a very low voice, assuming she wouldn't answer me.
She did.
"I've sent him away," she retorted.
I was surprised by her response.
I thought my father's confession to Madison that he had only loved her, she would somehow reconcile things with him but I guess not. It seemed Madison will never forgive him for getting involved with my mother.
I was upset that Madison was mad at my mom when she too was innocent. The one only to blame was my dad. I got up walking away from her.
"Everything he told me about her was a lie," Madison stopped me before I could leave the living room.
I spun around to her and she sat up.
"He said he never loved her but I know my mate when he lies to me. I can see it in his eyes."
I stared at Madison.
"Whenever he speaks about her and losing her, I saw sadness and great pain within his eye greater than the day we lost our first pup," said Madison.
My eyes widen.
"Everything he told me was a lie," she bawled out.
I was surprised at her words, now knowing that my father truly did love my mother but why did he lie to Madison about it? I didn't understand.
I quickly motioned to Madison and held her.
Her head leaned on my right shoulder as she remained to cry.
As I tried to comfort her, I couldn't help thinking about my father's whereabouts I needed to find him, now.
"He thought I would have believed his lies and forgiven him," said Madison.
One of my hands gently stroked her hair as I looked at her.
I needed to find my father, he was the only family I had alive. As much as I hated seeing Madison so sad. I couldn't stay with her and comfort her any longer. I needed to find my father now before it was too late.
"Do you want me to help you to your bedroom to lie down?" I asked Madison anxious to leave her.
"No, please just let me lay on your shoulder for some time. I don't want to be alone now," Madison pleaded to me.
As much as I was desperate to leave her in search of my father. I couldn't leave her when she needed me the most. I had to stay with her of everything she had done for me.
"Sure, I will," I told her.
"Thank you," Madison said as she held me tighter.
My head turned to the large glass window that allowed me to see the front of the house as I hope that my father would somehow return to Madison, and there I could secretly tell him I was his daughter.
Recollecting the first time we met when I assumed Madison was in danger. Tears slowly formed in my eyes remembering when his eyes met mine and he called me by my mom's name.
I cried wishing I had called him dad when I discovered he was. I wished I had never hidden my identity from him back then. I am a part of him and he needed to know.
Madison lifted her head from my shoulder and lay on my lap.
I watched her as her tearful eyes closed allowing the last tears to run down her cheeks.
I softly pushed her hair backward.
Within a few hours, Madison went to sleep in my lap.
My legs felt cramped being in the same position for hours, so, I slowly lifted her head not wanting to wake her while I slid from the couch and placed under her head one of the couch pillows to support her head.
I paced around the living room trying to get rid of the cramp in my legs, as I did all I could think of was going to seek my father.
I paused and looked at Madison sound asleep on the couch.
I had to go, I needed to find my father.
"I'm sorry Madison," I apologized as I ran from the living room and took off my clothes shifting into my wolf.
I ran into the hoods sniffing for any scent that could lead me to my father.
I halted finding a scent. It was him, he wasn't far away. I ran the fastest I could through the hood anxious and excited to see him.
"Dad," I called as I got close to him, eager for him to know who I was.
As I did, I was petrified to see my father in his human form naked with a green, thick vine around his neck, hanging from a tree.
He was dead.
I shifted into my human form and cried out.
