The door to Agor’s dorm flew open with a deafening crash, slamming against the wall so hard it rattled the windows. Alexandra jumped, her heart pounding, as Liam stormed in. His eyes blazed with fury, his hair disheveled, and his fists clenched at his sides.
“You need to come with me, Alexandra,” he barked, his voice sharp and commanding.
Alexandra stood frozen, her mind racing. The warmth and calmness Liam always exuded were gone. In their place was an edge of authority that sent a chill down her spine.
Before she could respond, Agor stepped between them, his tall frame blocking Liam’s path. His silver eyes glinted with warning. “She’s not going anywhere with you,” he growled.
Liam sneered, his hazel eyes narrowing as he took a step closer. “Move, Beta. This doesn’t concern you.”
“It concerns me when someone’s trying to take her against her will,” Agor shot back, his voice low and dangerous.
“Liam, what are you doing?” Alexandra demanded, her voice shaking. “Why are you acting like this?”
Liam turned to her, his expression twisting into something cruel and unrecognizable. “I’m doing what I should’ve done a long time ago, Alex—protecting you from this traitor.” He jabbed a finger at Agor, his lips curling in disdain.
Alexandra’s chest tightened as anger surged through her. “Protecting me? You’ve been lying to me this whole time, haven’t you?”
Liam’s laugh was sharp and bitter, his hazel eyes gleaming with mockery. “Lying? Oh, Alexandra, you’re finally catching on. I was wondering how long it would take.”
Alexandra’s stomach twisted. Her voice cracked as she asked, “You’re his son, aren’t you? You’re Raven’s child.”
Liam didn’t flinch. Instead, his grin widened, smug and menacing. “Of course I am,” he said, his tone dripping with arrogance. “Did you really think Raven wouldn’t send his own blood to keep an eye on you?”
Her knees felt weak, but she forced herself to stand tall. “You manipulated me,” she said, her voice trembling. “You let me believe you were my friend, that I could trust you.”
“Trust?” Liam spat the word like it was a joke. “You were never meant to trust me, Alexandra. You were meant to fear me.”
Agor growled, stepping forward, his fists clenched. “Back off, Liam.”
Liam’s gaze flicked to Agor, and his smile faded, replaced by a sneer. “And you,” he said coldly. “The traitorous Beta. My father’s loyal dog turned coward.”
“Better a coward than a monster,” Agor said through gritted teeth.
The tension in the room was suffocating. Alexandra’s voice broke through it, raw with pain. “You’ve been working for him this whole time, Liam. Feeding him information about me. Why? Why do this to me?”
Liam’s expression softened for a moment, and for a fleeting second, Alexandra thought she saw a flicker of regret. But then it vanished, replaced by cold indifference.
“Because it’s what I was born to do,” Liam said simply. “You’re a threat, Alexandra. My father made sure I understood that from the moment I could walk. You’re the last of the Blue Moon Pack. If the packs unite under you, my father loses everything. And I lose everything.”
Alexandra shook her head, her vision blurring with tears. “You don’t have to follow him, Liam. You could’ve chosen to help me—”
“Help you?” Liam’s laugh was cruel, cutting through her words. “You still don’t get it, do you? This isn’t about choice. This is about power. My father raised me to take what’s ours, and that includes you.”
Before Alexandra could respond, Agor stepped closer, his voice icy. “You think she belongs to you? She’s not a pawn in your father’s sick game.”
Liam’s eyes darkened as he turned back to Agor. “And what would you know about it? You’ve spent your whole life licking my father’s asshole, and now you think you’re a hero?”
“I’m no hero,” Agor admitted, his voice low. “But I’m not your father’s puppet anymore. I made my choice the day I met her.”
Liam’s smirk returned, his gaze flicking between Agor and Alexandra. “Ah, yes. You and your choices. Tell me, Alexandra,” he said, his voice dripping with mockery, “has he told you the real reason he’s so desperate to protect you?”
Alexandra frowned, glancing at Agor, who stood silent and tense. “What are you talking about?” she asked, her voice trembling.
Liam stepped closer, his smile widening. “Oh, this is rich. He hasn’t told you, has he? Typical Agor, keeping secrets.”
“Liam, shut your mouth,” Agor growled, his fists tightening.
But Liam ignored him, his gaze locked on Alexandra. “He’s your mate,” Liam said, his voice triumphant.
The words hung in the air like a thunderclap.
Alexandra’s heart stopped. “What?” she whispered, her voice barely audible.
Liam’s smirk deepened. “This lousy Beta here, this traitor of my father’s pack? He’s your mate, Alexandra. The one destined to be by your side.”
Alexandra staggered back, her mind spinning. She stared at Agor, her chest heaving as she tried to process the truth. “Is he telling the truth?” she asked, her voice breaking.
Agor’s silver eyes met hers, filled with pain and longing. “Yes,” he said softly.
