Unwanted Mate

Chapter 129

Ch. 129 / 165 Jun 23, 2025

Ever since they got back from the rogues, the werewolves had scampered back to the cozy little town.

Although the rogues did not become an ally of their wolf pack, at least it seemed like Kent believed in Celeste's words. Their attention now shifted from plotting revenge against their wolf pack and harming their Alpha to fixating on the hunters instead.

But the unanswered questions were piling up like werewolves in a moonlit forest. Who on earth were Jeremy's parents, really? They were itching to track down Kent again and uncover the secrets. Unfortunately, Kent couldn't care less about a meeting. The slippery man had vanished into thin air, and they had no clue where he had scampered off to.

Nevertheless, those matters could take a back seat for now. The howling truth was that their current priority lay in bolstering the entire wolf pack, bracing themselves for the hunters' next move. They even toyed with the wild idea of strengthening their pack to a fearsome level and launching an audacious strike against the hunters themselves.

Once Jeremy assumed the role of Alpha, wolf training became the talk of the pack. Lucky for them, their pack boasted a bunch of battle-hardened wolves who had traded blows with those hunters before. These seasoned warriors took on the role of trainers, imparting their cunning and prowess to the younger wolves.

But that was just one piece of the puzzle. The wolf pack also had to keep their snouts to the ground, sniffing out any traces of the hunters' whereabouts. Through tireless tracking and nose-twitching exploration, they had finally confirmed that the town had been cleansed of any hunter. Not a whiff of hunters remained, evaporating into the air as time ticked by. Even Raymond's quaint little cabin had become a desolate den, untouched by any human presence.

The pack widened their search radius, starting from their cozy little town and expanding it to the entire city. They didn't stop there. Their hunt extended to other urban jungles. But despite their efforts, two weeks had gone by with no fruitful outcomes. It was as if these hunters had materialized out of thin air, only to disappear just as mysteriously.

The remaining wolves were still on edge, but for now, there was nothing they could do but wait. Life settled into a fleeting calm.

Ever since their return from the rogues, Byron had stepped down from his role as the Alpha of the pack. Jeremy stepped up to fill the void as the new pack leader. The newfound position made him busier than ever before, buzzing with activity like a bee in a flower garden.

Celeste did everything she could to help Jeremy with the endless pack affairs. Both found themselves trapped in a whirlwind of responsibilities. Free time was a rare luxury in these days, and their conversations about their blossoming romance were often snatched on the fly. They stole stolen moments, sneaking away to be together.

Now, the rest of the pack had come to accept Jeremy and Celeste's relationship. Observing their lovey-dovey behavior no longer elicited surprise but rather a warm smile. Celeste was happy to see the change, her heart swelled with happiness.

And after these days, she discovered herself slowly but surely seeing Jeremy as more as her fated mate instead of her fake twin brother. He was her mate, a connection deeper than blood. Celeste hadn't anticipated that such a profound shift in their relationship would require this much time to adapt. But as she reflected upon their bond as siblings, it became clear that adjusting to this new dynamic would take its own sweet time.

Of course, this transformative journey was not devoid of tantalizing allure. Although Celeste's rational mind hadn't fully embraced the reality of their romance, her inner wolf couldn't contain her excitement. The wolf yearned for Jeremy's heated gaze, which spoke volumes, and the euphoric rhythm of their hearts synchronizing when they embraced. It was a symphony of passion and longing, melodies that danced within her chest.

But most of the cases, they were just indulging in kisses, as if a passionate, tender, and moist embrace of their lips could satiate their inner cravings. At least, that was what Celeste believed.

Yet, as she grew more attuned to Jeremy's presence and embraced their newfound intimacy, a mere kiss no longer sufficed.

Just like in this very moment.

With a loud splash, Jeremy's lips parted from Celeste's. Gasping for air, Celeste attempted to recapture the oxygen that Jeremy had stolen from her lungs with that tantalizing kiss just seconds ago.

But before she could replenish her breath, her eyes locked with Jeremy's. Inside his gaze, a fierce inferno burned. In the blink of an eye, Jeremy's lips crashed onto hers again.

"Mmm!" Celeste let out a short, muffled cry, swiftly silenced by Jeremy's fervent desire. Her head sank into the plush sofa, as she sensed Jeremy's weight pressing down on her. And once more, she surrendered to the intoxication of their passionate kiss.

But unlike their previous kisses, she could feel Jeremy's scorching, slightly rough hands gliding down her shoulder, sliding onto her arm, and even through the fabric, his touch dancing along her back. It supported her, caressed her.

Lost in a hazy trance, Celeste's hand wandered aimlessly, finding its way to Jeremy's chest—solid, pulsating with warmth, and she could even sense the rhythmic beat of his heart.

A smile curled upon Celeste's lips, while their mouths remained locked in a tender union. It seemed that Jeremy, too, could perceive the playful curve she painted. She could sense the curve on his lips, too.

"Do you like this?" Jeremy broke the kiss and whispered in a low, husky voice, dripping with temptation.
