Jacob’s POV
“And I think you’ve brought us trouble.” says the visitor.
Even though I can’t see her face, I know she’s looking right at me. The emotion of fear comes to me very seldom and that’s when I have no knowledge of something. When there’s something I have no answer about, or I’m left with no resolve.
But this woman, well I can’t say she’s human exactly. And I think I’m having that particular emotion right now.
Fhoxia is her name, right? And this Fhoxia is not from the living, its dead. She got no presence, no scent, no shadow, nothing.
All the inhibitions I had, all the doubts and mistrust was left with certainty. Lucianna and Roscoe are telling the truth and even if I believe them, this woman’s presence alone makes me believe.
“He didn’t mean to.” Roscoe spoke, trying to cover up for me. Its not only I who recognize who Fhoxia was talking to.
Fhoxia turned her head to Roscoe, ever slowly, the slowest motion I have ever see.
“Doesn’t mean he was not to blame.” the female said and her head turned to me again, slow as she did at first. “I have ten minutes to talk but I don’t think I’ll use all that time to say what’s on my mind. There’s nothing left to say, after all.”
Lucianna walked forward coming from my back. “Please, Fhoxia. We need your help.”
“Help cannot be guaranteed, Luna. I brought you warning and all advise was ignored. In a week, you’ll start to show and yes, you will conceive a child. The pup that will end the life of the holder of the shadow eye will be born.”
Roscoe shook his head and my mate froze.
A pup that will kill me. Funny, it sounds yet I can’t laugh it off.
“And it won’t stop taking life, it won’t stop from feeding.” Fhoxia continued.
The idea of a child coming from my own flesh and blood who might bring harm to me wasn’t in the scope of my fear. But for it to take innocent lives of my kind? The thought is making me tremble.
“Why?” Fhoxia asked.
I looked around to see if someone spoke that I didn’t hear as I was lost for thoughts but her gaze was fixed at me. Just to me.
“What?” I asked, confused.
Lucianna pressed her forehead on my shoulder and sighed. “She can read thoughts, Jacob.”
‘How exactly?’ I asked through our portal. Lucianna sighed but answered.
‘She’s from the Above Realm. Heavens. She can do almost anything.’
My brow raised from that information. Oh.
In a blink, Fhoxia was right in front of me. “Why do you not fear that a child of your own, one that you gave life to start breathing in this world, will once stop yours?”
My mind instinctively doubled its walls, trying to do something so the visitor won’t get into my thoughts, in my head.
“I’m simply not afraid.”
There was a pause and if I can see Fhoxia’s face right now, I’ll guess she is frowning. I think I succeeded in guarding my thoughts that she’s fazed as she can’t get through.
Not anything, then.
“Your the first Alpha I talked with, and you are rude. The Goddess gave you life, you shan’t be wasting it but instead treat it as a gift.”
“And yet, that same goddess will give us a child who you said would bring misfortune.” I smirked. “I’m not being rude, messenger. I am not scared because I will do whatever it takes, in what power I can, to stop the misfortune the goddess gifted to us.”
“Jake.” Roscoe tried to stop me but when I looked at him, I gave him the glance that screams I’m serious and I meant every word. My brother sighed in defeat and took a chair to sit on.
There was silence and the time Fhoxia mentioned is almost up.
“I will go now.” Fhoxia said after a moment. “But I will leave these words: The creator do not wish to have this misfortune and so she sent me down here. It was fate that has to intervene and whatever rudeness I hear from you right now, I’ll still come back when I have something that might help. And don’t think for a second that I’ll do it for you, its your people I worry about.”
My jaw clenched. My pride won’t even try to have any help but this is not the time to let my ego drive the wheel. I’ll gather any help I could get.
“Thank you, Fhoxia.” Lucianna whispered beside me. The woman nodded its head in a very slow motion.
Fhoxia started to disperse into thin air like a dust swirling and slowly disappeared. There was no presence to begin with, so I don’t know if she’s gone for real.
Lucianna sighed and walked past me and I watched her move. From the way she grabbed the alcohol bottle and a glass to pour herself a drink.
“You should not drink, Lucianna.” I said softly. She turned her head to me and her eyes are narrowing.
“It’s not for me.” then she walked towards me and handed the glass. “Drink some to calm your nerve.”
I took the drink though I’m confused. “I am calm.”
She gave me a sharp look, the one that was supposed to make me flinch and believe me, I do. I just hide it.
“You shouldn’t have talked to Fhoxia like that, Jacob.” She growled lowly.
“Seconded.” Roscoe said, raising a hand up.
I frowned. Sure, I talked-back and might’ve said a few below the belt phrases but what can I say? I’m truly ain’t afraid of dying.
“I just told the truth.” with a heavy sigh, I gulped the liquor my mate handed to me. “Ain’t afraid of dying here.” I sighed and sat down.
“Oh yeah?” Lucianna walked to me and stop just in front of me. I know that look, her nose is flaring and even though how much beautiful she looks right now, I know she’s mad. “But I am, Jacob. I’m scared you will die and for no honorable reason but because of a curse!”
“The child is not a curse, Lucianna!”
I stood up and met her eyes. She can’t be saying this things if our kid is really forming and starts to live inside her womb! I held both her arms and she seems fazed.
“Its our child. No matter what. I fucked this up, I know but I will face it. I’ll look for something that will help us. There must be an answer for all of this.”
“Yes, and the help just left after you rude-talked her.” Roscoe butted in.
“Well, her ten minutes are almost up. She was supposed to leave anyway.”
“Doesn’t looked like it.”
I groaned and narrowed my eyes at him. “Get the fuck out of my house, Roscoe.”
“You know what,” Lucianna struggle out of my hold. “This is not what we planned but its here now. You’re right, we got to face this but stop shoving away all the people that wanted to help, Jacob!” then she walked out.
But I’m not… fuck, am I? Am I scurrying every help we could get? I’m mad, okay? I’m mad of myself because I am the reason we’re into this. That something inside of me who tries and control me is to blame!
And I am to blame because I’m not strong enough!
Roscoe sighed and stood up. “I’ll leave for tonight, brother. Be gentle with the lady, she’s as furious as you are right now. And scared.” then he left.
I was alone inside the living room and I’ve never heard this silence so loud. There’s ringing in my ears and my head started to hurt.
Fuck.
Will I ever stop messing up things all the time?

Roscoe’s POV
I saw Jacob leave the house an hour after I left. He’s probably on his way to the Hall, and yes, I was waiting for him to go.
My feet was fast as I walked towards the house. I need a time alone with Lucianna because even my brother tries and take this easy, I know how heavy this problem is.
And its not just Lucianna who cares for my brother, I swear my life to save him from this the moment I found about this. There’s no way I will let him walk in his death, this is more of a suicide as I see it.
“I advise you shouldn’t take another step forward, Ros.” A voice came from somewhere above. I looked and saw Harley sitting on the roof of the house with a sandwich on his hand.
“You’re fast.” I smirked.
“Nah, I’ve been watching you for half an hour right behind that huge oak.”
So Jacob has called for him, huh. Yeah, why do I always forgot that this luna-guard is always around.
I shrugged and watched the house. There’s no movement inside but I know Lucianna can hear us already.
“There’s something I need to talk with Lucianna, Gamma.”
A loud thud echoed when Harley jumped off from the roof and landed on the ground. He’s right in front of me now.
“The last time you talked to her alone, she was gone for days.”
“Maybe you’re not doing your job?”
“The more I should start doing it right. Now.” The third-in-command’s nose flared and his body starts to tremble. Oh, someone’s about to shift.
“You really should not fight me, Harley.”
He cranked his neck side by side. “Oh yeah?”
“You’re no match to me.”
Harley smirked. “Heck. Says someone without even a rank.” then he jumped towards me. I went on my guard, hold my position and ready for his attack when Lucianna’s voice stopped both of our move.
“Stop!” then the front door opens. Lucianna came out of the house with a frown. “I was trying to rest here, and you both disturbs it.”
Harley took a glance at Lucianna before looking right back at me. He got the balls now. The last thing I remember about him is hiding behind Jacob’s protection as a child. He grew up well.
“Too damn lucky, you are.” he then spit on the ground and walked to the porch, stopping beside his Luna.
This right here are the times that I can’t help but think such idiotic thoughts. Such as, Harley would have been my Gamma if I was the one given the throne. And Harley would be great at it, he’ll surely be a good protector of my Luna. Well, if she lived.
But that’s not my destination, fate has driven me to the sides. Just to watch and help. And I’ll do what I’m destined to do. To be.
A help.
“He says he’d like to talk.” I heard Harley whispered to Lucianna.
I chuckled. “I can speak for myself, Gamma but thanks for being my spokesperson.” I can’t help but tease him. I still see the people of the pack as how I left them. He’s a child in my eyes.
And maybe that’s one reason I’m not fated to be the Alpha.
Alright, Roscoe. Stop with the shitty thoughts.
Harley rolled his eyes and sighed, he’s getting annoyed.
“You waited for Jacob to leave?” Lucianna asked. Her expression looked tired and for this early time in the morning, I’d guess its because of the problem.
“Yes, I did.” I pointed far where I hid myself to watch. “I’ve been there for an hour.”
“He’s spying.” Harley grunted.
“Harley, its fine.” Lucianna sighed. “Roscoe would like to speak with me alone.”
The Gamma’s eyes widened and he blinked twice as if he can’t believe what he heard. “Ah-uh, nope. Jacob gave me instruction to watch out for any danger and that man might cleanse his name with Jacob but he’s far trustworthy for me.”
Oh, well, I can’t blame him for that.
“Sorry to burst your bubble, Gamma. But we’re in a crisis here,” I sighed and looked around. “Only the ears of a family were allowed.”
Lucianna grunted and I saw her closed her eyes. She’s stressing out too much and the argument is adding up to it.
“Well, unless Lucianna permits it.” I tried to change the course. Maybe she have ideas that I’m not able to think about.
The Luna shook her head. “Just stay here, Harley. We’ll talk at the office so you won’t need to go.”
Harley’s jaw clenched and he gave me a once-over before nodding his head. I was surprised no words came out of him.
“Let’s go inside, Roscoe.” Lucianna turned and head inside. “You can come inside the house, Harley. There’s food in the kitchen.”
I smiled at Harley when I walked in front of him and continued to follow Lucianna.
She walked inside the home office, its wolf-proof, makes sense why she wanted to talk in here. Looks like we’re in the same thoughts that the pup thing should be kept a secret.
For now, of course. There’s no secrets kept hidden anyway.
“What is this about, Roscoe?” Lucianna asked once I closed the office door.
“There’s something I’d like to propose, Lucianna. I’ve talked with Fhoxia about it, as well and this idea might help delay the, uh, birthing. Gives us enough time to find more solution to the problem.”
When I left, Fhoxia joined me under the oak and we did talk about it for two minutes. Her energy ran dry so she has to go.
Lucianna’s eyes lighten as if hope shone through it.
“Really? What is it?”
I sat on the chair and Lucianna leaned on the desk in front of me.
Sighing, I start. “We believe three months is not enough time to find a solution for this. Fhoxia said so herself, and you’ll give birth to the child three months from conception. That’s not enough time.”
Lucianna nodded her head and bit her lip. “I was thinking the same. Time is too fast, we won’t even feel it coming.”
“But Jacob will. The pup won’t even wait for it to come out of this world before he start to take Jacob’s darkness.”
“Jacob’s life.” she corrected.
I shrugged. “The same. So, there’s one thing that might help. Though, if you agree to do it, you can’t get intimate with Jacob again or you’ll conceive again.”
She frowned and I know she’s starting to get what I meant. This is hard for me. This is harder that this stuff is coming out of my lips.
“You don’t mean…” she gulped as if a bulk was stuck in her throat.
I nodded my head. “I mean abortion, Lucianna. We have to kill the pup inside your womb in exchange of enough time.”
