Alpha's Little Miracle

Chapter 43

Ch. 43 / 127 Aug 27, 2025

ADRIA’S POV

Ever since Lucien returned, we had even become closer and our age difference could not even be considered a barrier. Although, day by day, I secretly got worried as students seemed to question our relationship with their stares.

If it was known that I was in a relationship with a teacher who taught a class I took, it would not be convenient for Lucien as the school would query him. It all boiled down to the fear of favoritism and although Lucien was not someone like that, the school didn’t know him the way I did so of course our relationship had to be kept secret.

The only reason people weren’t openly questioning our relationship was probably because of Miss Darcy, a female professor who almost all the male students were head over heels for. Miss Darcy was easygoing, great with conversations and was always seen with a male student, talking to them about whatever troubles they were facing. The same went for Miss Lester but she was a little careful with the male students, so they probably felt I and Lucien were the same.

“Hey.” Stacy called as she came down to sit next to me immediately the professor who had been teaching walked out of the class.

“Hey.” I replied without looking up from the textbook which I was busy with, highlighting sentences that I felt I needed to remember with a bright yellow highlighter.

“So, for about a week now, I’ve been noticing…” She started, leaning forward on the desk.

“I and Lucien?” I asked, still busy highlighting texts.

“Oh, come on, or you have something to say about him?” She asked, shoving my shoulder backwards and I gave an awkward laugh.

“What could I possibly have to say?” I chuckled. “It’s just the stuff that almost everyone is thinking.”

“That you guys are dating?” She asked, putting a pen in between her lips.

“Yeah, stuff like that.” I answered, twirling my highlighter in between my fingers.

“Well, I will admit I’ve thought about that a few times, but I was like; Hey I know Adria, if she’s dating the Professor, that’s hot news so she’ll actually let me know about it.” She said, raising her brows and I laughed, but inside I was pricked with guilt.

I had to find a time to tell her. Even if I couldn’t tell her about his real nature then I ought to at least let her know we were a thing.

“So, what were you about to say then?” I asked, scratching my head.

“For a week, you’ve been exchanging greetings with that pretty new girl. She and I only have a class in common, how many classes do you guys have in common?” She asked, placing her elbows on the table and resting her head on her palms.

“I think two.”

“She’s very beautiful. How did you happen to know her?” Stacy asked with a wide smile.

“She’s Lucien’s new neighbor.”

“I seriously still can’t get used to you calling Professor Lucien by his first name. I tell you girl, that’s some sweet romance budding.” She said, giggling, and got up from her seat to join Tommy and Daniel who were leaving the class.

“Wait up!” I called after her, getting up and packing my textbooks in a hurry before swinging my bag across my shoulder, and running after them.

MONICA’S POV

Learning they were a thing made me go mad with anger. I had used all my tricks back at home, moved to New Orleans, gotten a house right in front of his and started attending a wack college I didn’t care about all so I could catch his eye but what? He had someone he was dating? A human?

But he clearly told me he wouldn’t be in a romantic relationship with anyone who wasn’t his mate, so was he telling a lie? Because there was no way that human girl could be his mate. How could he choose a weak human girl over me? She wasn’t even as pretty as I was.

The thought annoyed me and I spent hours in my house the next day brooding over it.

It was a total disgrace to me and to all the female wolves who had been hoping to be seen by him.

Just then my phone rang and I saw it was my mum. I picked it in anger, holding it to my ear.

“What!? Stop calling!” I shrieked, venting out my anger.

“What the heck is wrong with you, Monica? I’m currently in New Orleans. I’ve been here three days ago. Why wouldn’t you pick your call? You didn’t even give your school your residence and you’ve been skipping a lot of classes. How am I to find you? For a whole week since you left, you’ve been ignoring calls. What is wrong with you, Monica?” She asked, half-raising her voice.

“A lot! A lot is wrong with me and you don’t need to know about it. Am I a kid? Why do you keep on insisting you call me and bug me? I am fine here! I live just opposite Lucien and he’s powerful enough to protect me so please just leave me alone!”

“Why do you think I’m calling? I’m calling because I need to hear your voice and also because I need to know how it’s going with Lucien. Are things going well? Is he responding? Have you had sex yet? Have you…”

“Oh please! No! No to all your questions, he doesn’t want me at all so stop calling me!”

“Then come back immediately and stop screaming at me!”

“I’ll take care of it! Leave New Orleans immediately because I won’t open my door for you even if you come knocking!” I shouted, and ended the call. My trembling fingers found their way to my power button and I pressed down real hard on it, and struggled to regulate my breathing.

He had to choose me, he had to. I hated the way my hands trembled from the injustice of it all, I also hated how I couldn’t concentrate on anything else but him. It was frustrating, but then there was a lot I could still do about it and…

Of course, it was to tear them apart. I had to get closer to Adria.
