Alpha's Little Miracle

Chapter 59

Ch. 59 / 127 Aug 27, 2025

MONICA’S POV

I turned away, pulling open my door, walking in and slamming it hard enough for the house to shake if only it hadn’t been built perfectly.

Hurting Adria would be delightful. She was a stupid know-it-all who taught she was the most perfect being on earth. Countless times, she had judged me with her expression, she had looked down on me just because she was going out with Lucien and she believed in him stupidly.

No matter what I said or did, her love for and trust in him did not wane. It almost felt like I wasting my time on her. I had to go more forcefully. Make her leave, if possible transfer her out of the country, destroy her phones and all the numbers she had and eradicate everything linking her to New Orleans. If possible, I’d brainwash her but at the moment, I was going to take a rather drastic step and scare her out of her wits.

I was sick of pretending anyway and was waiting to show who I really was. Monica who acted shy and sweet was disgusting. I needed to show her I was the boss she’d never be and the rightful mate for Lucien and while I was at it, it would be indeed nice to remind her she was nothing but a lowly, powerless human, although I didn’t want to reveal my true identity yet—my identity as a wolf.

And with that thought, I went into my room to get a coat.

I dialed a number and it picked immediately. “I will meet the both of you at the night café we met the other day.” I said curtly and ended the call. Those scoundrels hadn’t been of any help.

As I made my way to the door, I tightened my belt rather hastily, not wanting to dedicate special time to doing just that.

I walked briskly on the streets and paid no attention to the guys googling at me as I walked past. Everywhere I went, I was mistaken for a celebrity, how could Lucien not see me as one? If those guys all heard that I was outdoing my all for a guy, they’d be mad because with them I’d need to do nothing.

I waited a little at the café before the people I had called, finally visited.

“Latte? Americano…?” I asked, not because I wanted to. It was just my way of making them feel guilty.

They were the two guys I had hired to make Adria gain interest in them back at that library and they had messed it up. She had left before they even got to start whatever they wanted to .

“It’s totally okay.” The first one said.

“Fine. I won’t waste my time either. You are advised to withdraw from the work. Few days have passed and none of you have approached her. On the first day, you guys flunked it immediately and you expect me to keep on sending money?” I blurted out and they looked at each other like they were in trouble.

“We’ll make our move again. I promise this time we’ll do it. Today, when she’s done with classes, I’ll…”

“Oh come on, shut it. I already decided to take matters into my own hands so do well and stay out of it else I might get angry and have you refund all the money, but indeed there is one last thing you can do.” I added and looked at the two fools. Andrew and Andy they called themselves, but this time, they won’t remember their names if they dared fail me.

ADRIA’S POV

Two days later after Monica had cried in my presence, she had been absent and I had gone to her house but there had been no reply. It seemed like she wasn’t home. I even dialed her number but was unable to connect to her.

When I asked Lucien, he had simply shrugged and said she’d probably gone back to where she came from and I didn’t know why it bothered me. Did she think I saw her in a different way because she lied? Was that why she left? Without telling anyone?

“What’s going on in that beautiful mind?” Tommy sang a line in John Legend’s All of me, indirectly asking me what I was thinking about, and I smiled.

“Nothing much. Do you want to grab ice cream with me?” I asked and he shrugged.

“I’m too tired to walk but if I delay, Daniel and Stacy would be out of class and would want to share with me, so I guess yes.” He replied and I burst out laughing.

“Don’t let Stacy hear that.” I joked.

We got ourselves Ice cream and just then, I received a message from Monica.

I clicked on it immediately and it read; Do you want to meet up? There’s a nice café on the next street behind my house. I would like to apologize better before I leave.

“Monica’s leaving.” I muttered.

“What?” Tommy asked.

“No. It’s just… I think Monica’s leaving.” I answered, and began to run. “Tell Stacy and Daniel we’ll see tomorrow, I have to correct something.” I shouted as I ran.

“Careful! Don’t fall.” Tommy shouted back.

When I got to the edge of Monica’s street, I traced my steps to the street which was going to be directly behind her house and walked through it.

It was a little desolate and if it were in the night, I wouldn’t be walking through it. Most of the surveillance cameras were broken and I wondered how on earth they’d catch a criminal if they murdered someone there.

It led into an alley and so far I hadn’t met anyone not to talk of being able to ask for directions to the café.

Had Monica been mistaken? Maybe she meant the street behind Lucien’s house? Because there was not a single soul walking past. Even if I did happen to see someone, I’d get scared. Most movies had led me to believe a person in a desolate alley was either a ghost or a criminal.

I dialed Monica’s number and held it to my ear and just then something hard came crashing on my head.

I let out a shout and fell to the ground feeling something warm pour over my face and knew it was blood and in that moment, the last thing I saw was a pair of pretty sneakers before the darkness settled in.
