The message stated that all the information that Justin needed was in his mailbox. He immediately checked into his email box and what he saw and pictures he received about Lily Cruz almost made him paralyzed. He stared at the screen for a long time without knowing whether to believe what he was seeing or chose not to believe.
He immediately forwarded the email he received into Kayden Diego's email address before standing up to go to his office.
Before he entered, Kayden had seen a message notification from Justin and had opened the mail. His eyes got glued to the computer, totally immersed in the mail when Justin walked in.
He and Justin locked eyes and Kayden Diego's eyes were very cold. Justin knew he had seen the email. Kayden returned his gaze back to the email and read it over and over. Looked at her pictures with her husband Damian Cross and felt he was going to have a cerebral haemorrhage.
"I least expected to see something like this," Justin finally said. Kayden Diego paid no attention to what he said but was thinking: Her name was truly Lily and surnamed Cruz. She got married to her childhood sweetheart for two years before she 'died'. At least that's what the investigation showed them that Lily was dead and had been buried.
She's a rich lady and the President of the Cruz business. But something wasn't just right. Kayden Diego closed his eyes and thought about the kind of marriage she probably would have had.
"Lord Kayden, what are you going to do when she recovers her memory? Would she leave you for her first husband?" Justin was worried. That's what worried him the most about the discovery.
"Never!!. If her first husband had to die for her to be mine, I will readily kill him" Kayden Diego replied and he's damn serious about what he said.
"You don't have to do it, I will be more than ready to execute the plan" Justin assured him. The last thing he ever wanted was to see his lord and lordess separated.
"But tell me, can two people be married for two years and the wedding was never consummated? I am her first and I am more than certain about it" Kayden Diego demanded.
He took her virginity. He remembered the scream, the hard penetration and the hymen being broken. The bleeding and the bloodstain bedspread that his mother even saw. She was pure and he was her first man. How can she then be said to be married for two years before her death?
"Impossible, except the marriage is fake and a complete pretense. And besides, if you are her first, it's only logical that she can only be yours" Justin declared.
Alpha Kayden pinched the space between his eyes. Something is fishy about Lily's first marriage. He wants to know the secret behind it despite the information indicating that they were both childhood sweethearts.
"I want to know the kind of marriage Lily had. Was it a contracted or a love driven one? Secondly, who wanted Lily dead? Who's in charge of her business?"Kayden Diego assigned another responsibility to Justin.
"I'll do just that"Justin replied before Kayden waved his hand for him to leave. He couldn't take his mind off Lily. The thoughts of someone competing with him over her was hurting him already.
But what if Lily recovered her memory someday, wouldn't she turn her back on him? Never!! He would teleport her to the werewolf clan and let her remain there forever.
Kayden Diego didn't leave for lunch that day and didn't order for a takeout. He's not interested in eating at all. He looked sullen and couldn't even Concentrate on his work anymore.
At the end of the work hour, Lily was wondering if Kayden Diego would let her drive in his car home. If he calls her, she'll obediently follow, but if he didn't, she would find her way home.
She was about to step out of the elevator when Kayden Diego called. Quickly she answered the phone"Where are you?" he asked. "Out of the elevator already. I am going home" Lily answered.
"Who said you could leave without me?"Kayden asked. He doesn't want her to be out of his sight. He made her his personal secretary so that he can get to see her often.
"You didn't say we have to go home together either"Lily retorted grinning over the phone. "Come over to my Office" he ordered.
That way they both went home together. Kayden Diego asked her to pick any car of her choice from the garage whenever he's not around to drive her to the company.
The thoughts of his discovery that day taunt him. Lily was someone else's wife? But she's his now. Lily has become an integral part of his life and he doesn't want anything that will come between or separate them.
That night, before they slept, Kayden placed Lily's head on his torso"Lily" he called her in a voice best described as a whisper. "Mm..mm" she grunted a response.
"I want you to promise me something," Kayden stated. He wants her to assure him that she won't leave him come what may. "What?"she asked.
"That whatever happens in the future, you won't leave me. Please promise me Lily" Kayden Diego's tone was quiet like a whisper. Lily squinted. Why is Kayden sounding like someone who is afraid? Why does he want a promise from her?. Of Course she isn't going to leave him. Why would she leave her husband?
"I promise I won't leave you" Lily assured him. She said the very word Kayden wanted to hear from her. Kayden Diego felt really excited at Lily's words. "Sure?"he asked, seeking for an affirmation.
"Absolutely," she replied. Kayden Diego bent over and kissed her temple. "I love you very much," he confessed. He doesn't know this is how love makes someone behave. He never thought he would ever love anyone but alas, he fell in love with Lily and wished he had known and possibly loved her earlier. Perhaps this fear he's hiding in his heart wouldn't have been there.
"I love you too," Lily replied and smiled quietly. Wasn't this the same lord Diego who once yelled at her and told her he doesn't want to talk to her. He now confesses his love to her and even made her promise not to leave him.
"Tell me something darling, why do you sound like someone who's afraid? Why do you think I will leave you someday?"Lily inquired.
Kayden Diego fell silent for a long time before he decided to tell her about Joe Bidder and his daughter. He told her how his mate's rejection almost led him to a terrible end. How he decides to never love anyone else after her. Though he can't really say what he felt for her back then was love but atleast, she was his mate then and rejection usually has a tragic effect on mates.
He had lived his life since then without ever thinking or desiring to love anyone. Until he found her. He doesn't know what propelled him that day nor why he felt responsible for her. He just knew there was something about her that left him questioning himself.
But when he realized that it's love. He couldn't restrain the feeling nor hide it. He had come to love her and she's his mate. He doesn't want to suffer another rejection in his life anymore. He's not sure he can take it.
When Lily heard what he said she felt pity for him for what he had passed through. She wasn't going to reject him, she wasn't going to let him suffer like before. "Where's Jane Bidder now?"Lily asked.
"I don't know, but I doubt if she survived herself,"Kayden Diego replied. "I won't leave you for the rest of my life, come what may, I will love you and stay by your side forever" Lily promised.
Hardly two weeks passed after Lily and Kayden made those promises to each other that Lily suddenly woke up in the middle of the night and violently pulled the Sleeping Kayden Diego by his robe.
Kayden woke up suddenly and saw Lily sat up with her eyes looking into space straight ahead of her. Quickly he sat up and held her "what's the matter Lily?"
"We need to leave to the werewolf clan now!!. Father and mother have been besieged and will be attacked before dawn. The entire Middleton pack will be scattered abroad" Lily said and looked like a fortune teller.
Kayden Diego's drowsiness suddenly disappeared. He sat up properly and without asking another question climbed out of bed. He closed his eyes and seemed to be in a deep meditation but was only communicating with his warriors.
He perceived some unlawful movements at his borders. Snapping his eyes open suddenly he demanded "Are you coming with me or you'll stay behind?" He perceived a bloody war but was confident in his present state of immortality.
"Of course I am coming with you" Lily declared and jumped out of bed. "How will you inform Justin now?" Lily asked.
"I've sent him a signal already" Kayden offered his hand which Lily took and they immediately teleported to the werewolf clan. When they arrived, Kayden told Lily not to move out of the Alpha's quarters except when the need arises for her to act like a backup.
He immediately shifted into his wolf form. A giant black wolf just like Lily saw it the day it came to pick her from Larry Jones' house. It ran out hastily and gave a loud growl summoning all the warriors around.
But to his utmost surprise, the border warriors had all fallen into a deep sleep and laid on the floor. The others came forward at the growling of the alpha. His growl cannot be mistaken.
They were hearing silent movements in the bushes not far away. Kayden Diego told his available warriors to take position at strategic points and then wait for his orders. They shook their heads and took position accordingly.
Very soon, Lily started hearing distant noise coming from the Royal palace.
