His Forbidden Soulmate

Chapter 40

Ch. 41 / 44 Oct 20, 2023

Freya

I should have driven home, called my mom, and started packing. Instead, I parked my car where no one could find it and walked along the forest to Jurius's home. It was a bad idea what I was doing, but how could I leave without saying goodbye?

I spotted a male wolf shifter as I got onto the land, an elder of the pack. He stopped what he was doing to look at me. Nervously, I walked to find Jurius.

"What are you doing here?" I flinched and became motionless at the loud shout.

I knew who it was; it was the alpha, Jurius's father.

Like a plant held firmly in the ground, I stood straight as I felt his unwelcome presence go around me, and he towered above me as he stood before me.

"What-are-you-doing-here-human?" he again asked, sharply repeating his question.

"I need to see Jurius," I said, terrified of him.

"He's not here," he growled as one of his hands reached out to grab me.

"Don't hurt her!" I heard Jurius.

The alpha hand was kept away from me, and I watched Jurius as he ran from the house.

I ran to meet him, and I hugged him in tears.

"I should have told you that Dolly had found out about us," I said.

"It was not her who spread the news. It was a new member in our pack," Jurius said as he hugged me tightly.

"You have to leave now, Freya, for your mom; you'll be safe there."

"I can't; it's too hard."

"There here!" I heard Jurius's father.

My head lifted from Jurius' chest, and I saw a black Jeep coming onto the land.

"Get inside now," Jurius urged me to.

There was a girl gesturing to me to get into the house. I ran to her, and she locked the door as we both went inside.

I observed her, looking into her green eyes as we both stood at the window.

"If anything happens to my mate and son, I swear to the moon goddess that I will personally kill you myself." Jurius's mother was storming from the kitchen.

"Mom, please calm down."

I learned that the green-eyed she-wolf was Jurius's sister. I've always assumed Jurius had only a twin brother.

I made sure I kept my distance from Jurius's mom.

She and her daughter left me inside. I peeked through the window, worried.

Two well-built, bald-headed men in full black, along with dark glasses, were now standing before Jurius and his dad. They were talking to them. I couldn't hear what they were saying, but I knew the question one asked when his head turned and the other as well. I draw back the curtain right away.

I looked around for a place to hide. What I'm doing, my hand ran through my hair frustatingly. They were wolf shifters; their noses were as strong as a police dog. I wished I had done what Jurius had told me. Now I was making things difficult for him.

The doorknob rattling open made my body jump. And again, I shrank, this time by a loud crashing sound outside.

"You need to leave now!" The door was swung open by Jurius's sister.

She held me by the hand, and we ran to a car. As we did, I looked behind me, and I saw my gorgeous soulmate and his father combating the men. Jurius was repeatedly punching one in the face while his dad threw one across the land like he weighed nothing.

I felt a hole slowly developing from the pain of being separated from Jurius, forming in my heart as my head spun away from him. I screamed as I did, being flung to the ground by a third member of the Wolf Shifter Council. I had no idea he was here. He was not in full black like the others; he had in full silver as if he were some royalty, and he had short blonde hair with grey eyes.

Jurius's sister's head hit the ground pretty hard, and she was unconscious. My nose was bleeding.

"Jurius!" I screamed as he held me by my collar, one-handedly lifting me from the ground.

"No! Freya!" Jurius yelled.

I tried to break free from him, but his stronghold was now tightening around my neck.

My hand held tightly to his needing to breathe.

As I felt as if I was about to take my last breath, I felt myself falling to the ground into Jurius's arms. Jurius had kicked him as if he were football straight into the forest.

"Are you alright?" Jurius asked as he laid me on the floor.

"I'm fine now, but your sister isn't."

Immediately, he went over to his sister, who was still unconscious, touching her face. He then got up, fuming with rage.

The Wolf Shifter Council was all gathering before him and his dad to attack all at once.

"Give us that human girl, or we'll have to put an end to your pack as well," the one in the silver said.

"Jurius, we have to for our pack," said the alpha.

I sat up, petrified, looking at Jurius, wondering if he was going to. Would he choose me over his pack, though we were soulmates? He first knew his pack before he knew me, and I believed he would.

"Never!" Jurius shouted.

I was alarmed that he wasn't going to.

"You can't fight them all," his father warned.

"I'll die trying to," said Jurius.

I noticed his eyes burning with fury, shifted not into their usual colors of yellow and black, but instead glowing like the moon, and he growled loudly, creating a deafening sound. I had to cover my ears from the unbearable sound.

All three men, along with his father, mother, and the pack member I'd seen earlier, were shocked at what Jurius did.

"An alpha of Alpha. I thought they no longer existed," said one of the council starstruck.
