The break came to an end and everyone went back to their businesses, feeling refreshed. The girls had decided to meet with each other when they were back at the diner in town. The trio sat on the table, taking turns to chat about their holidays with their mates, while eating some pancakes and maple syrup.
"I tell you,I wish we had more breaks in this town. Who knows some of us might just show up pregnant", Helen joked and they laughed.
"No joke! I mean, you needed to see the way my Ethan pampered me all day,every night", Accalia gushed dreamily.
"Oh really? Did he moan loud or was he quiet about it? It's still so hard to believe that introverted Ethan can be so vocal to you about things like love and sex", Helen said laughing.
"Surprise! He is. And he's a strong wolf in bed", Accalia said, sipping some fruit wine.
"Well ladies. I attest to the fact that your Alpha,my husband, is a great one. Nobody could ever fill me up the way he does", Rachel said and they all cheered.
"I have some good news to share ladies.", Helen said standing on her feet.
"What now? He banged you in his car?", Rachel joked.
"Hmm..even better. Guess who's going to be the official Luna of the Northern pack? Me!", Helen said screaming, displaying the mark of engagement on the right side of her neck.
"Oh my gosh! No way! This is so good", Accalia squealed, jumping to her feet as well.
"I'm so happy for you, Helen. But I'll miss you", Rachel said wiping a tear from her face.
"Awwn.. we'll visit more often,but for now,we have a wedding to plan!"Helen shouted joyously.
"Have you guys thought of the time for the wedding?"Accalia asked.
"Oh yes. Max has an event of initiation during the full moon which is in a month's time,so he wants us to be married before then", Helen explained, sitting down.
"That means you'll be getting married in a matter of weeks. C'mon! We need to toast to that", Rachel announced and called the attention of one of the sales girls for a bottle of wine.
"To more blessings for you and the great Alpha Max", Rachel said and the others echoed, before clinking their glasses.
"And more celebrations to come and I think I'll be next", Accalia blushed.
"Yes! We can not wait for more beautiful love stories", Helen agreed.
Soon the news spread like wildfire,Alpha Max of the Northern kingdom was picking a wife from the southern pack. Young women gossiped about the epic wedding that was to take place and young men envied the Alpha. He was finding comfort in the loins of one of the most crafted thick women in the pack.
Helen laid in the arms of Max,that night when he asked her the question that she feared. "Baby? I don't mean to remind you of your past or reopen old wounds but I just want to be part of everything you've gone through before me", Alpha Max said calmly, rubbing her smooth arms.
Immediately that question was asked, Helen knew what he meant. He wanted her to talk about her first mate. She sat up, holding the beddings to cover her naked body, resting her head on the wood. She looked down at her fingers and twisted them nervously.
Alpha Max saw how uncomfortable she felt and wished he didn't have to ask but it was necessary. "I love you and knowing this part of your life won't change the way I feel about you, Helen",he said reassuringly.
Helen nodded and began to speak. "I was in my late teens when I met him. My parents were gone so I lived with my grandmother and some cousins".
"He was the son of the Alpha and was the talk of every young female but me. I mean..I fantasized about him privately but I didn't tell anyone. We hadn't even met before because his attention was usually taken by one thing or the other", Helen chuckled sadly.
"I traveled out of town with my grandmother, to learn more about herbs and magic for three years. When we got back,I was twenty two years old and quite got the attention of the young men on my return".
"None of them appealed to me but somehow I found myself wondering what the young Alpha was up to in my absence. I asked my cousins and they said he was okay and was having a party that weekend".
"Two days before the party,I was on my way from getting some bush flowers for herbal medicine,when we crossed paths. For the first time,I felt what it was like to..um..be a chosen mate", Helen said, holding back tears.
"We spoke and he kissed me. He confessed to me that he had never felt that way with anyone before and asked why we didn't meet earlier. I explained to him why I traveled and that I was back".
"All that day,we just laid in each other's arms,drunk in love. I was totally unaware he was seeing someone else. He hid it from me", Helen said, wiping a tear off her face.
"Everyday we would spend time together,till everyone knew about us and then announced that we were mates. I felt lucky.. you know. I was so in love with him that I closed my eyes to all of his flaws and weaknesses. Obviously I loved him more than he did",She said.
"On the night of his party,we had sex and honestly,it isn't anywhere close to what we have", Helen said and Max chuckled lightly.
"He wasn't exactly the sweetest in bed,but what did I know? He was my first. We got intimate again and I looked forward to being Luna. You know,my grandmother started teaching me the ways of Luna and all, because we thought,sooner than later,I'll be getting married to him", Helen smiled sadly.
"So on that night,there was a ball that was to celebrate his father's birthday,I was excited. How foolish of me to know that it was going to be a terrible night for me".
"He mounted the podium and after his speech,he announced his plans to get married. Everyone began to cheer and wave at me, anticipating him to call my name. But he didn't".
"All we heard was Basilia Brendan. She was his chosen. I thought my ears were failing me as I stood dumbstruck, praying for the ground to swallow me", Helen said choking with tears.
"One of the gammas tried to protest but he explained that,while we weren't together, Basilia had been there for him and it's only right he sealed it with her. I watched Basilia walk up to him all smiles with a beautiful blue gown".
"She was of noble descent and her family had influence and all. In front of the town,my mate walked up to me and said, 'Helen,I love you with every being in me. I hope you understand why I reject you'.
"My legs failed me and I passed out. I think I woke up two days after. My grandmother feared for me as I was unresponsive to all the herbs she concocted. Imagine waking up to the anxious eyes of your entire family members and some friends", Helen said sobbing.
Alpha moved closer to her and comforted her. He knew she was holding something back and being able to talk about it was the only way to relieve her of the fears she had.
"So you understand now,when I said we should be discreet about us at first. I know you were different but I had been hurt twice by my first mate,so I became skeptical about a second-chance mate", Helen said finally looking up at Max.
"I understand you my darling. But I'm going nowhere. It's always going to be me, you and Adam and of course the beautiful teddies that you would birth for me when we're ready",Max said assuringly.
"Thank you. I love you so much and promise to be the best I can be for you and Adam. And honestly,I'm happy it never worked out cause you're the best thing to ever happen to me",she said snuggling up with him. Alpha Max kissed her head and held her close. They just laid in each other's arms quietly but yet very happy
