The Lies That Binds

Chapter 197

Ch. 197 / 200 Jun 22, 2025

The interrogation room in Blackwood Tower's secure sublevel felt like a corporate meeting space rather than a holding cell. Piper had designed it that way - power expressed through luxury rather than force.

Michael Chen sat across the polished mahogany table, his expensive suit slightly rumpled after twelve hours in custody. Before him lay stacks of documents - evidence of every Golden Triangle operation they'd dismantled overnight.

"Your losses so far," Piper said, sliding forward a tablet displaying real-time financial data. "Three billion in product. Five billion in frozen assets. And that's just the beginning."

Gabriel stood by the door, while Noah monitored everything from his mobile command station in the corner. Alexander watched through the one-way glass, ready to provide insight into their prisoner's tells.

"Impressive," Chen admitted, scrolling through the numbers. "Though costly. These strikes must have set you back significantly."

"Less than you think." Piper smiled slightly. "Your own resources funded most of it, once we gained access to your accounts."

That hit home. Chen's fingers tightened on the tablet.

"What do you want?"

"Everything." She activated the room's displays, showing Golden Triangle operations across Asia. "Starting with your complete withdrawal from Singapore and Malaysia."

"Impossible. The organization-"

"Is already crippled here." Piper pulled up live footage of police raids happening across the region. "Your networks exposed, your allies arrested, your infrastructure destroyed."

"Some of those allies are very highly placed."

"Were highly placed." Noah spoke up from his station. "Amazing how quickly loyalty evaporates when offshore accounts are frozen."

Chen's composure cracked slightly. "You have no idea what you're dealing with. The Golden Triangle isn't just an organization - it's a system. Remove us, and the vacuum-"

"Will be filled," Piper finished. "By legitimate businesses. By regulated trade. By me."

She laid out her proposal - detailed plans for converting their operations into legal enterprises. Import/export lines reimagined as proper trade routes. Distribution networks repurposed for legitimate goods.

"Your choice is simple," she continued. "Help us transition everything legally, keep a percentage as a consultant. Or..." She shrugged. "Spend the rest of your life running from both sides of the law."

"You really think you can control all this?"

"I already do." Piper activated another screen, showing their overnight acquisitions. "Your infrastructure is mine. Your contacts are mine. The only question is whether you want to profit from the transformation or become another casualty of it."

Chen studied the data, his tactical mind obviously racing through scenarios.

"The other families won't accept this change easily."

"They already have." Gabriel handed over more documents - agreements signed by Singapore's old guard, pledging support to the new order.

"How did you-"

"They saw the writing on the wall," Alexander said, entering the room. "Adapt or die. Simple business principle."

Chen looked between them - the enhanced siblings, products of Project Phoenix, now controlling the very powers that had once experimented on them.

"Your mother-"

"Is no longer relevant." Piper's voice was steel. "This is the new reality. Choose your side."

Her phone buzzed - Jasper, coordinating from his hospital room. "Malaysia transition complete. Local authorities are fully cooperating."

Another message, from Noah's team: "Banking networks secured. All transactions are now routing through our systems."

Chen watched the messages appear on the room's displays, seeing his empire transform in real-time.

"The terms?" he asked finally.

Piper slid over a contract. "Twenty percent of legitimate profits. Advisory position in the new structure. Complete immunity - provided you cooperate fully."

"And if I refuse?"

She simply pulled up footage of his family compound, where his wife was currently accepting police protection - and immunity deals of her own.

"Like I said. Choose carefully."

He signed.

As security led him out to begin the debriefing process, Piper's phone lit up with a different kind of message. Her assistant Sarah's replacement, Emma, marked it urgent.

"The Global Business Innovation Awards," she read aloud. "Selected as a finalist for 'Most Resilient Corporate Leadership' and 'Innovation in Market Transformation.'"

Gabriel moved to read over her shoulder. "Ceremony's in London next month."

"Interesting timing," Alexander mused. "As we reshape the region's entire power structure, you're invited to the global stage."

Noah looked up from his screens. "Could be an opportunity. Could be a trap."

"Could be both," Piper said thoughtfully. "Emma, accept the nomination. Begin arrangements for London."

"Full security detail?" Gabriel asked.

"Maximum." She turned back to the displays, watching their new empire take shape. "But first, we finish this transition. I want everything locked down before we leave Singapore."

Her phone buzzed again - another message from the unknown number:

"Congratulations, sister. The world is watching. But remember - some eyes see deeper than others. London holds old secrets. Ready to learn what Mother was really preparing us for?"

Piper Chen-Blackwood straightened her jacket, Project Phoenix enhancements humming beneath her skin.

One empire was secured.

One brother reclaimed.

One mother to confront.

And now, a global stage awaits.

The game was evolving, expanding beyond Singapore's shadows into international waters.

Time to show the world what Phoenix children could really do.

"Noah," she commanded. "Begin background checks on every person connected to these awards. Every judge, every organizer, every other nominee."

"Already on it."

"Gabriel, coordinating with London security firms. I want our own people in place before we arrive."

"Of course."

"Alexander..." She turned to her brother. "Ready to go home?"

His smile was sharp, dangerous. "London was never home, sister. But I'm ready to help you burn down whatever Mother built there."

Above them, Singapore's morning sun painted the sky in shades of fire.

Below, their new empire hummed with controlled power.

And somewhere, Margaret Blackwood waited, watching her creations take flight.

Phoenix rising. World watching. Game changing. London calling.

The next phase was about to begin.
