The Rejected Hybrid

Ch. 115 / 120 Jan 16, 2026

" Humm..." Arnold looked at her, but he didn't seem convinced.

He knew she must be hiding something, and he weirdly wanted to know what she was hiding.

" You know I have noticed something about you and I gat to say this, why do you keep a lots of things to yourself?"

" Huh?"

Lexa turned to face him with her eyebrows knitted, and she stopped chewing her food.

" Yes, why can't you confide in someone?"

Arnold calmly fixed his eyes on Lexa like a hawk, trying to gauge her expression.

" What's with all this questions?" Lexa shifted and was beginning to get an uneasy feeling.

Why was Arnold talking this way?

Arnold dropped the spoon he was holding and relaxed his back on the wall close to him. He narrowed his eyes and united his fingers together.

" From my experience, people like you are considered broken peoples. I have seen many people like you, especially during the wars, but I hardly take interest in them.

But am familiar with attitudes like this or am I wrong? You are free to correct me though, I won't mind."

He flashed her a toothy grin and clicked his tongue with his teeth. He could see how stunned she was, but she immediately composed herself.

Lexa was rendered mute for some seconds, as her mind was pondering on what Arnold said. It was true though as she examined every of his words. She was truly a broken person, and she smiled sadly at that realization.

But her expression changed back to a stoical one, and she lifted her face up to meet Arnold's eyes, " You aren't wrong, but why are you saying all these?"

" Nothing, I just want to know how you became a broken person especially at this young age, " He answered her and shrugged.

His expression was now back to that of a playful person.

Lexa chortled while shaking her head, " I don't think it right for me to tell you that."

" Why?" Arnold understood what Lexa meant, but he doesn't want to let go of this discussion. His curiosity was really growing too rapid.

Lexa exhaled but didn't answer her. Discussing her past with Arnold will really ruin her mood, and she didn't even trust him. So, how will she narrate her past to him. It was a complicated thing for her, and she wanted someone she could trust so much. Besides, she already even vowed to not go back into her past anymore, that includes telling it to other people.

Arnold saw how Lexa suddenly went quiet for some seconds, and he wondered what she must be thinking.

" You don't have to think much about it, I actually understand you and I won't force you to say it. But I just want you to know if you need someone to talk to, am always here. You can easily share your problems with me or anyone that you trust. I just wanted to know, but it's okay if you don't want to say."

Lexa's ears accommodated all what Arnold was saying, and she found it hard to believe what she was hearing.

Is this really Arnold talking?

Why was he more mature talking like this?

Why does he sometimes care about me?

She couldn't get an answer to all these questions that were disturbing her head. Then, she suddenly recollected how she had acted to Arnold despite how he always helped her. She felt sad with the realisation, and she hung her head low.

Maybe am really too harsh, rude and cruel!

But can I blame myself?!

" Lexa?!!!"

Arnold shook her body slightly and this jolted Lexa back to reality.

He had been talking to her for a while now, but it seems her mind wasn't here with her. He didn't like how she spaced out and wondered what she must be thinking about.

" Do you think am cruel and selfish?"

Lexa's forest green eyes stared into his hazel eyes and something flicked between their two eyes but it just was only for a brief moment.

Arnold looked taken aback, and he straightened himself up, " What are you saying?"

" Just answer the damn question!" Lexa shut her eyes and place her head gently on the fancy pillow beside her.

" Well, I don't think you are mean, I just believe that's who you are. You can't mix personality with attitude Lexa, they are both different and I wouldn't want you to feel somehow. "

Arnold answered her straightly and he meant every single words he said. He had actually thought about this before, so his answers were prepared already.

Lexa shook her head, her eyes still closed, " You don't know what you are saying!"

Arnold's expression was now strange, and his facial features appeared more attractive without a smile, " I do, and I can understand where you are coming from, but I won't blame you. There must be a reason for you saying all these, but I wouldn't want you to hurt yourself with your thoughts. I believe you are not mean or harsh or anything. You are just who you are, and you don't have to change that."

He wanted to make Lexa know, she doesn't have to fight all her battles by herself.

As she heard all those words from the Prince, the strong tall walls she meticulously and painstakingly built for over many years around her cold heart, broke into two, and she sucked in a deep breath. She almost choked out and pulled him into an hug as she needed one right now but with great effort, she restraint herself.

" Why?"

" Why what?"

Arnold stood up and went to open the windows in his room, so more air can sipped in as it was now beginning to feel hot inside the room.

Lexa bit her lips and fiddled with her smooth slender fingers, " Why are you being so nice to me?" She knew she had asked him question before but she couldn't help it again.

Arnold stopped what he was doing and stood, with his back facing her but after some few seconds, he turned to her. And went to sit close to her.

He looked into her green eyes, which was appealing and really striking. It was one of the rarest eyes, and it made her look more delicate in his eyes.

" I already told you the answer to this before, but I will still repeat it again. The reason why I cared for you is because I feel you deserve it, infact you deserve lots more. And don't ever think you don't deserve anything good. You don't know but I do, and I am telling you this with all sincerity. Don't look down on yourself like that again, where is that pride hun?"
