"What is this?" Damien asked slowly as he looked at the 'cake'.
I smiled sheepishly, "Cake?"
"Cake?" Damien's face scrunched up in disgust. "Why did you do make this... Cake?"
"I was bored," I bit my lip, knowing I was in for an earful. The supposed cake was like some rock. It was totally hard and there was a gaping hole in the middle like a volcano. And the batter was still inside.
"Hanna," Damien groaned and I gave him an innocent smile. "Why do you even come into the kitchen?"
"I wanted to make cake for you," I answered easily. He narrowed his eyes at me. He grabbed my hand and pulled me away from the now burnt microwave oven.
"Hanna!" he exclaimed, "What in the world is wrong with you?! You burnt the oven! You are banned from the kitchen."
Tears pooled in my eyes and I grabbed my hand away from his and ran into the living room. I knew I was bad at cooking, but the least he could do was be happy.
"Why are you crying?" Damien asked, incredulity slipping into his voice.
I looked away from him. "You should be happy, instead you are yelling at me."
"Happy?" I could hear the sarcasm in his voice. "Happy that you almost burnt my kitchen down?"
"Happy that I put my life in jeopardy and made you something," I muttered. "What if something happened to me?"
"I should be more worried about the kitchen," Damien muttered, "You are putting that in jeopardy."
I glared at him, and walked out of the room. I walked into our bedroom and checked my phone. I knew Damien was right behind me, but I refused to acknowledge him. Suddenly I was pulled into his lap. I gasped and as always, my eyes drew to his. His eyes were dark with desire and lust and love.
"You have no idea how much I want to punish you for that," He whispered, his voice low but powerful.
"Damien," I stuttered, but the words died on my lips as his lips crashed on mine. I moaned into his mouth, spurring him on.
His hands circled my waist and he pulled me closer. I tangled my hands in his hair, making him groan. His lips massaged mine, his tongue sucking my tongue. I moaned and held on closer to him, hanging on for dear life.
"Damien..." I moaned as he trailed kisses down my jaw and all the way to my throat. He moved his lips to my neck and it was becoming impossible for me to think straight. He sucked on my mark, making me moan without thinking. My thoughts were jumbled, I couldn't even think straight.
He ripped my blouse off and his hands made quick work of my bra. He moved his mouth to my breasts and trailed his lips along my nipple. I tightened my hair in his hair and he groaned, making the sensations rumble through my body.
"Fuck baby," He groaned as he suckles hard on my taut nipple. My head tilled back and I let out a loud moan. His hands moved down my stomach and to the waistband of my shorts.
I froze. My mind went into overdrive. I pushed Damien away with all the strength I had and he looked at me, stunned through his lustful haze.
"D-Damien," I stammered, "I-I can't."
His face went from hurt to blank in a matter of seconds. I felt tears form in my eyes and I gave him an apologetic look. "I'm not ready," I whispered.
"When are you going to be ready Hanna?" he snarled, "You know what, I am sick of this! It has been one fucking month, but you still refuse to let me touch you. I am not that filthy bastard! You only need me by your terms! I cannot stay like this anymore."
I didn't say anything. He got up, arrange his shirt, threw me a tee from the closet and walked out. Just as I was about to burst into full blown tears, he came back. "Sophie is going to visit you today. I'm going to Lake Territory for some business. I might stay the night."
"Damien!" I called out, but I already heard the front door slam shut. Tears ran down my face. I had been doing this for the last one month. The only time I even let Damien touch me was when we went to sleep. He was right. I should be over it. I shouldn't flinch every time he touched me. He was my mate, my husband. I shouldn't flinch every time he touched me, but I did. Damien was nothing like that asshole.
I wasn't even going to blame Damien for what he said. I got off the bed, walking down, hoping by some miracle of fate that Damien would be there. A pang of sorrow passed through me when I realized that he really wasn't there.
I was torn between calling him and letting him cool down. He was really angry right now and I wondered what he was doing. Just as I was about to call Damien, the door burst open and a small shriek escaped my lips. Fear coursed through me, but when I realized that it was Sophie, I grinned at her.
Concern was evident on her face. She enveloped me in a tight hug, putting all her stress and concern into it. I knew how stressed she must have been. Actually, both her and Tyler. I was the baby of the house, the one they had always protected. We were always the Three Musketeers. But the only difference was that whatever hardships we faced, they made sure I never felt the sting of it.
"How are you?" She whispered as she let me go.
"I'm okay now," I answered easily, so used to saying the same answer again and again. Sophie frowned at me and pulled me down on the couch.
"Now tell me honestly, how are you?"
I blinked back the tears that threatened to spill any moment. "I don't know. I feel... So filthy. So dirty."
"It’s not your fault. You don't have anything to feel dirty about." Sophie said in a soothing voice.
"I know," I sighed, "But... Damien..."
Sophie frowned, "Did he do anything Hanna? Say anything? Coz I will beat him up, Alpha or no--"
I let out a small chuckle. "No nothing like that. He has been so understanding the past month, he makes me feel so much better, makes me feel so loved."
"But?" Sophie prompted softly.
"I can't be intimate with him!" I cried, the tears falling down my face. "I can't let him touch me without flinching. Today was the first time in a month that I even let him take my top off."
Sophie pulled me to her and I hugged her tightly, crying into her shoulder. "Hanna, honey. Damien is your husband, your mate. He is your forever. How do you think he's feeling right now? He wasn't able to save you Hanna, and by acting this cold towards him, you are only fueling his self-doubt."
I pulled back and looked at her in surprise. What? I didn't even think of it that way. Damien was also hurting, I should have realized that. I was being so selfish.
"Call him," Sophie urged and I nodded, reaching out for my phone. I pressed dial on his number, waiting for him to answer. Praying that he would answer.
"Hanna," he greeted me a cold, detached voice, making my heart stop.
"Damien, I'm so sorry!" I apologized. "I shoul--"
"I'm at work Hanna," Damien cut me off. "I'm going to Lake Territory now and I won't be taking any calls. Is Sophie there?"
I blinked back the tears and Sophie frowned. She knew exactly what was going on. "Yes."
"Good. Have fun," he said and without waiting for me to say anything, he cut the call. As soon as he did that, the phone fell from my hands and sobs wrecked my body. He was so cold towards me. So detached.
"He hates me," I sobbed as Sophie tried to convince me the best she could.
"Let's go," Sophie said suddenly, making me look at her in surprise.
"Where?"
"To get some stuff for you. You will apologize to Damien and I know exactly how."
"I cannot cook," I stated blatantly, making her laugh.
"I know that Hanna," she smirked, "I was thinking along the lines of something else. Now get dressed. I want you downstairs in ten minutes."
Four hours later, I was thoroughly exhausted, holding about ten shopping bags. "Can we eat something?" I groaned for the hundredth time.
"Fine," Sophie snapped, making it seem as if she was doing me a favor.
We ate at the food court of the mall, as Sophie ran through the plan she had so carefully thought of.
"Go get 'em!" Sophie exclaimed as she dropped me home. I didn't tell her that I didn't think that Damien would be coming home tonight. His tone and stance had made that much clear.
But I called him. I was addicted to his voice, and I wanted to know that everything was okay between us. I had to know. "Hey," I whispered when he answered.
"Hi," He replied, his voice equally soft.
"Are you coming home tonight?" I asked, dreading the answer.
"Yes Hanna," he sighed. I almost whooped with joy. "I'm sorry for snapping at you that way. I know that you need time and I will try my best to give--"
"Damien," I cut him off. "Get home soon. And don't apologize."
His tone turned suspicious. "What are you up to Hanna?"
I smirked, "Come home quick and you might just find out.”
I heard some shuffling. "I'll be home in ten minutes baby."
