"I am afraid that might be close to it" she answered. She's not certain but she felt her guess might be true. Kayden was exhibiting traits of a protective mate. How else can one explain why he would risk it going to find her all by himself in his wolf form.
They couldn't follow him because it wasn't the full moon and they can't shift into wolf form and back to human at ease especially when not in the face of danger. He could easily do that because he's a Lycan.
"I am afraid she's his mate. But looks like he wasn't ready to accept the fact" Justin voiced out his thoughts. He had witnessed how he carried her princessly from the party and used his thigh as her pillow.
How he kept throwing glances at her while she was sleeping. But what baffled him was why he spoke rudely or angrily at her according to what Ms Gracey said.
They waited until they perceived his presence. He soon jumped into Lily's room through the open window. He saw Justin and Ms Gracey waiting in the room and knew they had guessed that he went to find her himself.
Lily gently climbed off his back and felt shy when she saw Ms Gracey and Justin. They three bowed before the wolf form of Kayden Diego before he went out of the door. He was obviously going to shift back into his human form.
Ms Gracey stared speechlessly at Lily who felt too shy to raise her head. She's definitely mad at her and would have scolded her if she wasn't suspecting Kayden would come at any moment.
"Lily, why did you do this? " Justin and Ms Gracey said simultaneously. They were worried about her because of her silly decision to leave the mansion. They couldn't wait to attend to the purpose of their traveling to Singapore all because the news of her disappearance sprung up.
"I am sorry" Lily said and before she could say any word, Kayden Diego strode in combing his hair backwards with his hand. When he came in, he just stood and stared at his mate. She had made others start suspecting them to be mates.
Justin and Ms Gracey were two smart people not to guess who Lily was to him. "I want to be alone with her," Kayden Diego declared.
The duo filed out after each other. Kayden Diego stared at Lily who was still standing but looked remorseful. She remained head bent and seemed to be counting or fiddling with her fingers.
She recognized him at once in his Wolf from? She clearly heard his instructions and promptly obeyed. He wants to know why she cried, that cry made him worried too much and made him decide to find her as soon as possible.
"Lily, tell me why were you crying?"Kayden Diego asked. Lily snapped her head up and looked at his eyes. She was thinking he would start questioning her as soon as he entered. But rather, he wanted to know why she was crying? How did he know she was crying in the first place?
"I had insomnia and couldn't sleep all night. When I eventually did, I had nightmares but couldn't remember it. I felt self pity for myself hence I started crying. But how did you know I was crying?" Lily turned her final statement into a question.
These nightmares again? He thought the insomnia had stopped after Ning's prescription. Maybe she didn't take her medicine, he thought. He would come back to that.
"How did you recognize my wolf form, or how did you understand my communication with you when I was in my wolf form?" Kayden asked. He ignored her question. She would know in time to come when he tells her she's his mate. He wants her to know more about herself and himself as well. He would gently train her to understand him as well.
Lily squinted at Kayden Diego's question. How did she know? She felt her mind was communicating with her. That's all "I saw your eyes when you were in your wolf form and I recognized it at once. As for the communication part, I heard voices in my mind and I acted accordingly" Lily replied abruptly.
Kayden Diego smiled faintly and Lily froze when she saw him smile. She had never seen him smile before and he really looked super handsome when he did. She smiled back at him.
"You knew and understood all these because you and I are connected. Like I told you before, you've become a werewolf when I gave you my blood to save your life. You are connected to me and I to you. I've been able to hear your thoughts and I've once asked you a question telepathically. So get used to me talking to you like that whenever I choose to and vice versa" Kayden cleared her on that aspect before suddenly becoming serious.
"Why did you leave the house contrary to my orders?" Kayden asked with a Stern look. "I am sorry Lord Diego. It was an irrational thought and decision that I took when I was upset with you. I am sorry"Lily apologized sincerely. Kayden Diego wondered if she was the same person who talked rudely to him a few hours ago? She'd suddenly become a lamb in front of him.
"And next time when you're upset with me you'll leave again, right?" He asked deliberately. He wants to know what was in her mind. "No, I am never going to take such an impulsive decision again. I'll just stay anywhere you want me to be" Lily was sincere.
Kayden smiled faintly. Lily was having Luna's submission to him without her knowing. "Why did you decide you'll stay anywhere I told you to?"
Lily answered straight away without thinking it over "I felt I missed.."she paused. What was she saying? How can she tell him she missed him and wants to be around him?
Again she had forgotten that he said he could read her thoughts. Kayden Diego smiled as he listened to Lily scolding herself. "You missed me Lily. That's your reason, right?" Kayden helped her out.
Lily wanted to ask him how he knew but remembered he had said they were connected. "You read my thoughts right!" Lily asked him, speaking from her mind telepathically.
"Mm..mm" Kayden grunted and gave a shrug. They both chuckled and smiled simultaneously.
"I'll grant one of your requests,I'll make you my secretary and you'll always be by my side since you want to work. Is that alright?" Kayden Diego offered.
Lily smiled and looked at him cheerfully. She nods her head and that settles it. "The limitless card.."Lily trailed off.
" That card is yours. Like I said before, you can't be my girlfriend because you don't fit into that position. you know why Lily? Because you are my mate!" Kayden declared.
Mate? Lily was shocked. His mate? An alpha mate? She doesn't know what to say or think. Lily?Lord Kayden, Diego's mate? She looked at him puzzled with so many unasked questions.
"Lord Kayden you mean..." She trailed off. She couldn't bring herself to ask any more questions. She had reacted unnecessarily. He was actually telling the truth when he said she can't be his girlfriend! Oh how one gets stressed out unnecessarily. She was mad at him and even questioned his sexual orientation.
"When it's you and I, call me Kayden Diego. You don't have to be formal when it's just the two of us" Kayden corrected her. He had already seen through that she had accepted him but he needed to put his Mark on her.
For the first time in his life, he opened his arms for a woman and waited for Lily to take a step to him and he would take the remaining step. Gently, Lily took a step and he covered the distance between them.
He held her in an embrace and she buried her face in his chest. Kayden Diego doesn't feel like letting her go and keeps holding her. She raised her hand and circled it round his waist. Lily felt she's familiar with the act and seemed she had held someone like that before.
"Lily, I want to put my mark on you. It may be a little painful but it will be quick. Can I? Kayden asked in a whisper. "Ok, you can,"Lily permitted him.
Kayden gently pulled her away from him and bent to mark her neck. Lily shivered but soon felt ok. She felt an unexplained familiarity and love for Kayden Diego.
He cupped her face in his palms and looked at her eyes closely. He gently placed his lips on her and for the very first time in his life, he kissed a woman.
He kissed her passionately and Lily could tell they were already in love. He kept kissing her until he pulled out first and then held her close to himself. "Catch some sleep. It's dawn already. There's a lot we'll catch up on later in the day"
He watched her laid on the bed and personally tucked her under the quilt. With a kiss on her temple. He strode out. When he got downstairs, he saw Justin dozed off on the sofa. He went to him and kicked his foot.
The latter sprang up with red eyes and stared at his boss. "Call the bodyguards back and go to the guest room to rest" Kayden Diego instructed before retreating into his room.
Justin had already informed the bodyguards that Lily had been found. But the details, they were not entitled to know. He simply strode into the guest room and sank into the bed..
Next morning Larry Jones had woken up early and waited for Lily to come downstairs for breakfast. He left her at noon the previous day after he brought her home. He went out to attend to some matter of urgency and returned late.
When he returned, it was too late to check on her in her room. So he decided he would talk things with her this morning and see if she would accompany him to the police station to make reports on how she found herself in this city.
He can't keep her in his house without doing those basic things. He ate his breakfast and sat still at the dinning, waiting for Lily.
He waited for a long time and didn't see her joining him in the dinning. Following his intuition, he decides to check on her. Perhaps she didn't know he was back last night. He tried to open the door but it was locked from the inside.
He called her name several times but heard no response. Afraid, he went to get the spare key. He slid it through the keyhole and opened the door.
When he stepped in, he was greeted by an empty room. He walked in and called her name. Perhaps she's in the bathroom. But no response, he went to knock on the door of the bathroom, no response. He threw caution to the air and pry it open to see an empty bathroom. In fact the floor was dry, implying it hadn't been used in hours.
He started feeling uneasy. He raised the quilt and saw that the bed was cold. No one slept here. Where had Lily gone? But her door was locked.
He looked at the window and it was locked. What was happening, was he dreaming? If it's a dream, he wants to wake up because this dream looks scary. He hurriedly went out and asked the servants and they all said the same thing that the Miss he came home with the previous day was indoor all day and even had a dinner before retiring to her room.
