Emily narrates:
I find it hard to believe that my son is such a goofball when it comes to this woman he claims to be in love with. He may be madly in love, but I don't think it's reciprocated. He is too naive when he blindly trusts this girl. I only had to see her once to realize that she is not in love with my baby.
You can see the difference between a normal look and a look of love, it is something that perhaps you do not understand, however, I have noticed it.
I still find it hard to assimilate that my dear Paige is aware of the existence of this woman, at what point did she find out? How did she take that? As I said before, I noticed the look she was giving my son. That's why I had hoped that at some point in these three years they would fall in love and be happy, the sad thing is that things don't always happen the way you want them to.
Now I understand many things that I didn't before, for example, a small change in Paige's look towards Mason, I don't want to say that she doesn't feel anything for him, no matter how hard I try to hide it I still see that gleam in her eyes, it is difficult in some cases to control feelings and most of them are impossible.
In the beginning I noticed my son very attentive to his wife and that made me think that everything would be fantastic, however, it was just an act on his part he was always with that woman.
You can't blame me for thinking badly of that girl, for not wanting to get to know her. I'm just being honest. If there's one thing, I've always liked it's the truth, the fact that my son kept this from me for so long is because he knew I wouldn't agree. It's not that I care about the money he spent on her and the education he gave her, I don't even want to think about what else I cost him. It's not the money that's important, it's my son's heart. It's going to hurt like hell when he realizes he's not loved like he is.
I think that's what bothers me the most, that while he keeps doing everything so they can be together in the future she's just looking to have a husband with money and I could bet that when she gets to own half of everything Mason owns, she won't want to work anymore. In this environment of people, you see that a lot. That they get married just to
"devote themselves to home stuff" when all they do is go to beauty salons, spas, get-togethers with girlfriends and nothing else.
Unfortunately, I stay at home, I don't work. For the simple reason that in my times things were different, we could not study because we wanted to, generally only daughters or the eldest women of powerful families did it, only in order to take charge of the companies or fortune of the family. Even so, some parents preferred to marry them off before they studied. I always wanted to study and work, so my husband gives me some jobs in his things, he has taught me a little bit of account management and that's what I manage a little bit.
Since Mason is taking over the company, with my husband all we do is organize events to raise money for foundations, social outings, vacations and so on. We have money collected in an account since we got married and it easily gives us enough to live comfortably. Thanks to that we are not dependent on the company and its assets, as long as Mason is well and has a quiet life, that's enough for us. We have never been materialistic and that has helped us with the money we have collected throughout our life together, as we always spent what was necessary and did not squander the money we had.
I still have the bad taste in my mouth from what Mason told me, I feel helpless, unless... I meet with her and offer her money in exchange for leaving Mason, I am sure she will accept some amount of money as long as she has her life figured out. I can tell I know her type, who sniffs out bank accounts from a distance.
The problem is how I'm going to get to her, Emily thinks. There must be some way... as much as I think at the moment, I can't think of any. I'd better think with a cool head when I'm not so upset about it. On the other hand, I won't say anything to my husband, it's not a nice subject to talk about. It would be best to spare him a hard time.
I sigh and switch the mood switch, while I think about what I can do to try to solve this situation.
Paige narrates:
I still feel like something is missing, I feel like Mason wasn't entirely honest with me about what he talked to Ethan about. I wish I could tell Sarah something, but it wouldn't be a good idea to involve her in this. Our marriage is supposed to be beautiful and the love we have for each other makes everyone envy us.
When I finish work, I go home, I don't call or text to find out what he will do. On the way I buy Chinese food for one and go home. When I get home the lady in charge of cooking and taking care of Simba tells me that dinner is in the kitchen.
"Thank you, I'll take care of it. You can go now," I reply with a smile.
"See you tomorrow, Paige," she responds, smiling as she strokes my baby's head. "See you tomorrow, Simba," she adds before giving him a kiss.
"See you tomorrow."
Once I'm alone, I go to the kitchen and see the dinner she left. My mouth waters, and I prefer to have her dinner here rather than the food I bought. I heat everything up and sit alone at the kitchen island to eat, while also serving a little bit of food for Simba.
I hear a noise and remain silent, but my son doesn't help at all. He runs out to greet his dad.
