P.O.V Mason:
Seeing Paige arrive next to my mother, I was speechless, while I already knew how beautiful she is I never imagined that after going with my mother she would look even more beautiful than she could look. This trip is no longer seeming like such a good idea, she will be surrounded by men who will want to be with her, and I don't like that thought at all.
I don't know what I am complaining about if I am in love with Peyton and she has the right to make her life, I can't be so selfish and ask that she not be with another man, it's not fair to her.
My mother tonight will sleep with Paige, so I stay in my childhood and teenage room. I have a hard time sleeping, when I close my eyes-only images of Paige come to my mind, first the one that even after several days I can't stop thinking about, her in the bathtub naked and now today's image is added. The two merged and I see her naked like today.
I have had wet dreams about her, I wake up excited by what she is provoking in me, I am terrified to be with her alone, so I have been avoiding it these days, although during the trip I will not be able to do it.
In the wee hours of the morning, I fall asleep, completely forgetting that I was supposed to call Peyton. I wake up around six in the morning to the alarm on my cell phone. When I turn it off, I see calls and messages from Peyton. I see and she is angry, it's not for less if I leave today and later because of the time difference we won't be able to talk as usual.
I call her and she doesn't answer, so I do something crazy. I get up and go in complete silence to see her, without telling her.
I get to the apartment and as I have keys I enter in silence. I see her asleep and she is beautiful, I lie down next to her and hug her, she babbles in her sleep, and I kiss her shoulder. My body lights up just with her scent. She feels my hardness on her ass and stirs.
She turns her body and I kiss her, unable to resist, one kiss leads to another, and we end up making love. More than once, I lost count of the times.
“What a beautiful way to wake up, my love," she says breathlessly.
"I'm sorry, I couldn't leave without seeing you," I say, kissing her cheeks.
"I would be happy to wake up like this every day," she responds, smiling and hugging me. Our moment is interrupted by my phone ringing, and I see that it's my mother.
"Hello, mother," I answer, smiling and calming my breath.
"We're on our way to the airport. I hope you arrive on time. If you don't, I'll take your place," she says, ending the call.
"Love, why don't you let them go without you?" Peyton suggests, caressing my stomach.
"I can't. I have work matters to attend to during this trip," I reply, lying.
"Okay, I'm going to miss you so much," she says, kissing my lips.
I return the kiss but cut it short when she wants more. I have to leave. I say goodbye to her and take my car to the airport. Luckily, my suitcase is with me, so I don't have to go get it.
When I arrive, I see my mother alone in the waiting area for non-traveling passengers. I look around, about to ask where they are, but she speaks before I can.
"He's already inside. A man who's on the same flight as him did what you were supposed to do” he helped him with his luggage," she says angrily.
"Mother, I had something to take care of..." I begin to say.
"I don't want to know. Believe me, both of us know where you went," she responds, angry. I sigh and hug her, apologizing. She tells me, "Just go, but don't you dare do anything in front of her. You're so blind that you haven't realized how you hurt her with your actions," she says, sighing.
"Hurt her? What are you talking about, Mother? She only sees me as a friend," I say, tired of everyone telling me that she has feelings for me when it's not true.
"Believe what you want. You'll regret it when you finally open your eyes. I'll be by your side, listening to your regret over the decisions you've made," she says, leaving me alone.
I walk and hand over my boarding pass, eagerly looking forward to seeing her. When I spot her, she's smiling at some idiot next to her. The guy is attractive and young, and he's standing too close to her. I quicken my pace and say,
"Love, sorry for the delay," I say, kissing her forehead, surprising Paige.
"Don't worry, let me introduce you to Aaron. Aaron, this is my husband, Mason," she says, introducing us.
"Pleasure to meet you. Well, I'll take my leave now. You're safe from predators. Maybe we'll run into each other in some country during your trip," he says, smiling and winking at Paige.
"Yes, maybe we will," I say, sounding serious.
"I hope so," Paige says, smiling like a fool.
Paige's expression annoys me. She's all happy, smiling at that idiot Aaron. She doesn't deserve to look at him like that. Once we're alone, I sit next to her, and she loses her smile, which irritates me tremendously. I know it's my fault for going to see Peyton, but I couldn't leave without seeing Paige.
I try to talk to her, but she responds with only monosyllables. I sigh, frustrated with the situation. I don't want the trip to be like this all the time. I didn't plan for it to be like this.
We board the plane, and she remains serious. I say nothing. I sit next to her, and she adjusts herself and closes her eyes. I watch over her sleep. I observe her like an admirer, and I see her head tilt towards the window. So, I take her hand and rest it on my shoulder. Her scent makes me close my eyes, and I end up falling asleep beside her, with my head against hers.
Someone touches my shoulder, and I stir from the touch. I open my eyes, and it's a flight attendant waking me up.
"Sir, we're about to land at our destination," she says, blushing.
"Thank you. I'll wake up my wife," I say, smiling.
I look beside me, and Paige is still asleep on my shoulder. I caress her cheek, and she stirs at my touch. I watch as she begins to open her eyes, and I smile at her. She returns the smile, and I say,
"We're about to land," I say, and she nods, straightening up. "Are you still upset with me?" I ask nervously.
"No, not at all. I'm sorry, I had no reason to be," she responds, smiling.
That leaves me thinking, she had no reason. I don't say anything, just nod and fall silent. The plane lands, and we disembark at our first destination.
Paige looks happy to see where we are. We're starting in Mexico. We head to the hotel and watch the sunset from our room. I booked a suite that has two separate bedrooms, so we each have our own space but can share the living room in the middle. We have dinner in the suite. Both of us are a bit tired from the journey, and tomorrow we have a city tour that Paige is excited about, eager to explore the places we'll visit.
After dinner, we go to sleep. We have to wake up early the next day to leave.
In my room, I check the time and can't resist sending a message to Peyton. I let her know that I'm already in Mexico and that I miss her so much. I remind her that I love her and leave the phone charging to sleep.
