CLEAN SLATE
I don’t know how quick we were as we put our clothes back on. Rachel Grey is standing behind the door, waiting for Kai to open the door to her while I am here, trying so hard to fix my after-sex hair.
Kai looked at me and bit his lip. I don’t know what’s going on inside his head right now that his girlfriend is there, almost catching us.
“Are you okay?” he even had the courage to ask me as he caressed my cheek.
I breathed heavily. I am not alright. My heart is beating like hell and I think it could explode anytime right now.
“Mr. Bennett?” Serena’s voice echoed the whole room once again as we heard another series of urgent knocks. Now, it seemed like Rachel Grey is getting impatient on the other side.
Kai sighed and tucked the loose strands of my hair behind my ear. “Trust me on this one, alright?” he looked deeply in my eyes.
I nodded as I heard sincerity in his voice. He shut his eyes and pulled me into him, embracing me tightly before kissing my hair. “Kai, I need to go,” I told him.
He’s going to talk to Rachel Grey tonight with her family. Me being here could ruin his plan. Me being here could ruin us even more. And I don’t want that to happen. I don’t want us to break again. Four years seemed to be an eternity of hell and I don’t want to go through that suffering again.
He looked at me with narrowed eyes. “Eunique, you can stay…” he trailed but I shook my head.
“I trust you.” I told him and he just stared at me. “I trust that you can do this…” I cupped his face. “I need to go.”
He sighed in defeat because he knows that I would go no matter what he tells me.
“See you later,” I said and planted a quick kiss on his lips.
He groaned, frustrated at the duration of the kiss.
I chuckled and stepped back from him. “Just call me when you can.” I smiled at him and turned to leave but before I could even do so, I was pulled in front him again.
He cupped my face and kissed me deeply. He licked my lower lip and owned my cavern. His hand traveled to the small of my back as he pulled me closer, kissing me even deeper by the minute.
I wrapped my arms around his neck and combed my fingers through his hair. Shit! We’re doing it again!
I stopped kissing and slightly pushed him away from me. He looked at me and smirked as he licked his lower lip.
“Your girlfriend is behind the door, Kaisser Bennett! And you’re not even bothered!” I glared at him.
He touched and played with his lower lip as a smile lit up from his face.
I scoffed at him and shook my head. “You’re crazy!” I told him and started to walk to the door.
I’m just nervous, alright! I don’t want to ruin us again. I want us to end up together at the cleanest way we can ever do. I don’t want any more complications.
Knocks were heard on the door again. I looked at Kai and he just stared back, still with his smile on his lips. I want to know what he’s thinking!
Damn it! I’m so frustrated at him but I want him here beside me. I want him to kiss and take me once again. Over and over again!
God! I think I’m the crazy one. I’m so crazy and insanely addicted to him. How can I even get over this feeling?!
“I’ll go now,” I said and exhaled heavily.
I bet when Rachel Grey sees me, she’s going to think that something’s going on inside Kai’s office. I know that. I am ready for that. And I know that she would not give Kai to me that easily. She is the girlfriend. And it’s not a hard task.
I bit my lip as I held then knob. Damn it, Eunique James! You need to chill right now!
I held my breath as I turned the knob and saw Rachel Grey in a red body con dress, standing irritated in front of Kai’s door.
She eyed me the moment she saw me. “What happened?” she asked as she looked at me from head to foot.
My heart seemed to have stopped beating. Kai loves me, I know, but this is still cheating. He used to be mine, yes, but right now, Rachel Grey is the legal girlfriend. I am still the ex.
“Rachel!” Kai beamed behind me. “Sorry! The door couldn’t open,” he reasoned lamely.
Rachel Grey narrowed her eyes on Kai before glancing at me again. “You are?” she asked with a raised brow.
I gulped as she gawked at me. “Eunique James,” I replied nervously. “Head of the HR Department,” I finished.
She seemed to not have bought my response so I showed her my ID. She nodded and turned to Kai. “Babe, I was waiting here for almost ten minutes!” She beamed as she walked to him and wrapped her arms around Kai’s neck, kissing him on the lips.
I clenched my fist as I saw what she did to him. My heart is constricting and I am trying so hard to not jump in and pull her hair. Damn it! He’s mine, bitch!
“Rachel!” Kai seemed to have been taken aback at what she did to him. His jaw clenched and immediately looked at me, apologetic and scared, I guess.
Rachel Grey chuckled and cupped Kai’s face, making him look at her, only at her. “Don’t be shy, babe. We’ve done more than that in public,” she laughed.
My throat went dry upon hearing what she just said. What?! They’ve done more than that in public? Damn it! Thinking about whatever they might have done in public makes me want to kill myself for leaving him. It’s still my fault. I left him and gave him every right to be with someone who makes him happy.
But still! God damn it! I can’t make myself imagine him being happy with someone else.
My hands are already itching to pull each strand of her hair and shout at her that Kaisser Bennett is mine. He was mine first, never hers. She was just someone Kai needs to get over me. But he couldn’t. Because until now, he still loves me. He still couldn’t live without me.
I shut eyes and clenched my fists. I need to go before I could murder this Rachel Grey. After all, I trust Kai. I must trust him.
I strutted out of the CEO’s office and walked straight to my desk. I need to be preoccupied. I need to work so hard to not have time to think about what Kai could have been doing with that Rachel Grey right now.
Heina and Sofia walked to me to report about the progress of the new branch. It seems to have been going better and better every day and I am happy for it. Kai deserved to be successful and I will do everything to help him be one.
My phone vibrated. It was Kris.

Paris Frank. Rachel Grey’s cousin.
I narrowed my eyes at the message then widened in realization. This is him! This is the person who took the photo and let it go viral.
I sent a quick thanks to Kris and started to look for details about that certain Paris Frank. He’s Rachel Grey’s cousin, so, does that mean Rachel Grey knows about this already?
Paris Frank, an heir to Imperial Hotels. The headline reads. It showed a young bachelor wearing a three piece black suit smiling and waving to the press people.
My eyes narrowed at the image of the man.
It’s him! The person I bumped to at Byron’s resort! The person who Kai almost punched in the resort! Damn it! Why is the world so small?!
I bit my lip and started to search on how I could contact this man. Why is he doing this? Is he doing this because of his cousin? Why?! I am so damn frustrated and I need to know everything as soon as possible.
I heard the chairs creaking with the floor as the door burst open.
I looked up and saw Rachel Grey so angry that she could lung me anytime. She stood in front of me and slammed something on my desk.
I stared at him, both in shock and terror.
“What’s the meaning of this?” she gritted her teeth as she pointed on my desk.
I looked at where she was pointing and widened my eyes when I realized what they were. It was some pictures of me and Kai last night!
Kai’s arms are wrapped around my waist as he was burying his face in the space between my jaw and my neck. It was one heck of a move and I couldn’t say anything that could counter the picture.
It was too obvious that Kai and I are both having fun!
“Miss—”
I couldn’t finish my words because her palm landed so hard on my cheek.
“Miss Eunique!” my members shouted in unison as they gasped at what Rachel Grey did to me.
“Eunique!” I heard Kai’s voice from the door and not so long after, I felt his arms wrapped around me. “Rachel! Fuck! What are you doing?” he yelled at her.
My vision is clouded by the tears brimming in my eyes.
“What now, Kaisser Bennett?! She took you away from me! I just made her learn her lesson!” Rachel Grey yelled back at Kai.
I heard Kai’s heavy breathing beside me as he made me look at him. He cupped and caressed my cheeks. “Damn it. Are you hurt?” he asked me as he touched the sore spot on my left cheek.
I couldn’t respond because my system is still in a state of shock. I looked at Kai’s face and saw him staring at me with nervous eyes. He reached for my lips and gave me a quick peck. I heard my members gasping after witnessing Kai’s act.
“Kaisser!” Rachel Grey screamed in anger. “What the hell are you doing?” she seemed so frustrated and I can feel her anger in my system.
Kai placed me behind him and faced Rachel Grey. “I want to break up,” he said in between those heavy breaths. “I want to break up in a clean slate but since this happened, I’m sorry that I had to end it here.”
